French Halloween Sentence Building Cards are a great way to get students in Grades 1 through 3 to get started writing stories. Students delight in creating unique and funny sentence patterns using a 1-2-3 step strategy. Students use cards marked ’1’ to choose the subject of their sentence, cards with ‘2’ are the action words, and cards with location words are tagged ‘3’. Put together the subject, verb, and location cards and make a new sentence each time.

What to do:

Make a class set of the cards, laminate, and cut.

Place a few copies of the 1-2-3 writing template sheet into clear pockets or give students an individual worksheet to work on.

Watch students delight in creating new and unique sentences as they build confidence in their French writing skills.

Vocabulary included: le fantôme, la chauve-souris, le chat, la souris, le garçon, la fille, la sorcière, la momie, le vampire, le Frankenstein, le loup-garou, marche, vole, court, saute, danse, mange, dans la maison hantée, dans le cercueil, vers la lune, dans la botte

How to prepare this resource:

Make a few copies of the template page, insert into clear pockets, dry erase pocket, or use as individual worksheets and watch as the giggles get started. Make a copy of the story cards, laminate, and cut. My students LOVE these activities. I cannot make them fast enough.

There is a little cutting and laminating involved with this activity but many use clear folders to make your job easier!

Perfect for a sub binder, emergency plans, or as a back up activity when you happen to have a few minutes to spare. A great set to have on hand as an extra centre activity at Halloween time. Your K-3 Immersion students will love them!

When to use this resource in the classroom:

These activity sheets are Halloween themed and can be used for the entire month of October and even into the week following Halloween. Students love using them and they can be helpful for follow-up assessment. Just in time for progress reporting period!

Dots and Boxes Game - ALPHABET - French or ANY language - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the alphabet in FRENCH or ANY LANGUAGE! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools. This game is included in my Ça y est, Je parle français! French 1 & 2 curriculum.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the letters on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

French HALLOWEEN Cutie Pairs Writing Prompt

A terrific, no prep activity for your blossoming K-4 French writers who may be struggling to take risks with their writing skills. The students absolutely LOVE this activity and have been asking me for days when we get to do ‘le gateau et la crème glacée’. I gradually give students autonomy by giving them the freedom to talk about what they think the Food Pairs have in common.

What to do:

Make a class set of copies of one of the cutie pairs.

Students colour, write, and cut out the writing strip.

Finally, students cut and paste the ends of the writing strip to the back of each item in the pair. Fold in the middle and students can show the big reveal!

42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or cardstock

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations, and it will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! In the deck of 42 cards there are 7 families of 6 cards (je - tu - il - nous - vous - ils).

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the "pioche". One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He might say, "Dans la famille AVOIR, est-ce que tu as J'AI?"

His goal is to come up with a complete family. If the player doesn't have it, he says "pioche". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!

French Decodable activities that align with the Science of Reading in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound. Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Students use whiteboard markers to sound out each sound in the word, each syllable, or each word in the sentence. What a great way to build confidence! Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!

Science of Reading:

These sentence strips are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!

Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven sentence strips on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!

Looking for a printable fraction bundle to help your students visualize, draw and understand parts of a whole? This is part of a larger collection of math manipulatives and visual aides I use in my teaching!

Because fractions in all their forms are universal, this package can be used in any language.

This particular set is built for teaching fractional representation and includes fraction circles, standard fractions and fraction strips. 45 cards for each set give you a total of 135 cards to print, laminate and use in your teaching (they work great under a document camera, for 1:1 or whole group games, for math centres, for your small group work, etc.) You can also use parts as a memory game or they can even be used on a math wall or on your anchor charts.

Looking for a fun, engaging, no prep way for your students to practice conjugating 35 common regular French ER verbs in the imperfect tense? They're really going to enjoy making verb chains! This is a great literacy center or independent work activity. They'll love hanging them up around the classroom! • Each verb page has ten strips to cut out.
• The first strip is for the student's name.
• The next nine strips are for conjugating the indicated verb with JE - TU - IL - ELLE - ON - NOUS - VOUS - ILS - ELLES.

STEP 1 - Students begin by filling in the blanks to add the correct imperfect tense endings. The number of letters needed for the endings is indicated by the number of blanks provided to help students while learning or reviewing conjugations.

French Number Lines are not always easy to find to fit the tone and feeling of your classroom! I have developed this number line with simple font and easy to read numbers and words so that your students can get started on reading their numbers together. This bright coloured French Number Line will look great in your classroom whether you are just starting out or if you need a fresh new look part-way through the year!

What to expect:

-Numerical bubble with one number in each circle

-numbers 1 to 100 (with an extra bubble with '0' in it for use if you choose)*

*Please note the font I chose does not have an 'accent aigu' so you will have to add it in your own hand.

I have added this number line to my classroom and the students started organically using it whenever a number comes up in conversation. We have a clear gateway to practice from any number and we count forward and backward depending on the whim of the day. Students love to be the one to choose our number of the day and we get counting!

French Dots and Boxes Game - POUVOIR - PRESENT TENSE - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary and grammar when teaching present tense POUVOIR with and without negation. This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the verbs on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most. French Verbs Dormir Partir Sortir - Present Tense Conjugation Worksheets

This literacy center or independent work activity for primary core French or primary French immersion is a hands-on way for your students to practice conjugating the irregular French verbs dormir - partir - sortir in the present tense. Each worksheet has one verb to conjugate. Spaces are provided for each letter of the conjugations to encourage correct spelling. Get the bundle of conjugation worksheets and save 50%.

French Decodable Sentence Strips that align with the Science of in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound. Easy NO PREP activities that you will use all year long!

Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans.
