Have your middle schoolers regressed in their reading strategies, or do you have students that require explicit strategies relating to their fluency and phrasing? This collection of slides is intended for big kids who need extra support. The language is intended for grades 5 through 8. They're not babyish, and the texts used are at the level of your pre-teen and teen crowds!

This 35-page document provides you with posters (which you can display digitally as anchor charts, or have them printed), mentor texts to model the strategy or do a shared reading with your students, and independent task prompts.

Need a quick and fun way for students to review a book they have recently read? Looking for a quick way to check students comprehension? With this Emoji Book Review, students can choose an emoji to represent how the book made them feel as well as answer 4 questions about the book.

Help students predict and classify with this observation journal! Students first learn about the flowering plant life cycle. Then, they label the important parts of a plant. Student then plant one of 4 seeds- sunflower, firecracker, moonflower or marigold. They make predictions on what flower this will become based on the identification pages. Directions

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which sight word they will read.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Sight Word:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding sight word on their worksheet.
• Students read the sight word out loud.
• Students should focus on pronouncing each word correctly and quickly.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read a sight word, they should highlight or color the box. They could also cover it with a counter or place marker etc.
• If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new sight word.
• Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the sight words on their worksheets.
