Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, is an annual 15-day Chinese festival that begins with the new moon that occurs between January 21 and February 20. It is an important part of Asian history and is considered the most important celebration for families and includes a week of official public holidays. The history of the Chinese New Year festival can be traced back to about 3,500 years ago.

Have your geography students explore the Chinese zodiac and learn about how the Lunar calendar culturally influences Asia and its people through this fun and thorough lesson.
