Fairy Tale Scenarios

This is a 3 part individual/group assignment where groups (of 4-6) are given a problem based on a well known fairy tale where students have to write and perform their solution to the problem. Students will write out a monologue individually and as a group will write the body of the script. After the groups have resolved their problem, each group member will have a chance to reflect on how their character feels after the resolution of the problem. This activity would be appropriate for middle school students. This package will provide your students with hours of entertainment that include opportunities to write and showcase their creativity. For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

Both activities follow a similar format, with slight variances to the BOOM Cards version to allow the resource to be digital and self-marking.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about the Titanic and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about the 1900s, putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.
