$5 - $10 6th Grade en Français Centers (by date, oldest first)

This beefy 125+ page unit on weather and seasons is perfect for your older Core French students who might not have had the luxury of learning this vocabulary and these concepts when they were supposed to. This product (and my other Core French products) are built for exactly that demographic: middle school kids who are too old and "too mature" (so they think!) to be learning these babyish concepts. I teach with a game-based model, and within this unit, you'll have full guided lesson plans showing you how to engage them at every step of the way. This document is divided in two parts: One Slide Deck features interactive games and instructional materials, and a second Slide Deck features all of your lesson plans (including classroom management suggestions, alternative plans, and differentiated models), worksheets, project instructions + success criteria, flashcards + printable games, templates, activities, and word wall vocabulary. I am not your run-of-the-mill crossword puzzles, "find-a-word" and "coloring contest" gal - these games are high energy, encourage movement and will get them (seriously) speaking in French.

Specifically, I cover (in-depth!) everything they need to know about *seasons*(including the verbs we use to talk about seasons - faire, manger, boire, porter), temperatures, weather, seasonal activities, clothing we wear in different seasons, food and drink we enjoy in different seasons, months of the year, days, etc.

Use fortune tellers / cootie catchers to have students practice telling time in French using 12 and 24 hour clocks. Your students already love them, and fortune tellers are a perfect activity for reviewing this important skill at any time of the year.

French Verb Savoir + Infinitive - Games and Activities BUNDLE

1. Le jeu des sept familles - This classic card game is fun for students of all ages! This version is for practicing the SAVOIR + INFINITIVE to say you know how to do something. Each of the 7 "families of cards" begins with one of the following, and conjugations in the present tense are used in the JE - TU - IL - NOUS - VOUS - ILS forms:

• Je sais + infinitive
• Je ne sais pas + infinitive
• Est-ce que je sais + infinitive

French Decodable texts BUNDLE that aligns with the Science of Reading are a NO PREP printable activity for the K-2 French classroom. Students practice endoding and decoding skills and build confidence in reading.

Make a few copies of each text and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Texts are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.
