CORE FRENCH | FSL | JE VOUS PRÉSENTE | GAME-BASED LEARNING | FULL UNIT + GAMES

By French Made Fun!

This 80+ page, highly visual, very engaging resource has everything you could possibly need to effectively teach - and reach - your low-level middle schoolers who crave games, interaction and movement to keep them interested in learning a new language. My products are geared towards middle-schoolers from grades 4 through 8 and focus heavily on game-based learning, collaboration -- and build independence.

This resource includes your lesson plans for the entire unit, a word wall, "messages du jour," a slide deck, games, activities, worksheets, modelled examples and templates to differentiate your instruction for all levels of learners. I provide you with prompts, suggestions, classroom management ideas and ways to push their learning. Extra "filler activities" are also provided for "those days." ;)

This unit focuses heavily on the terms "pareil," "différent," "différences," "similitudes," "le même," and the négation "ne... pas." It revisits and consolidates vocabulary relating to colours, clothing, body parts, birthdays, pastimes and interests.

In this document, you will find:

35 Teachable Slides (within the Slide Deck) which includes:

  • A revision of color vocabulary;
  • Prompts for asking and answering questions about clothing;
  • A revision for clothing vocabulary;

  • Activities for students to find similarities and differences with people;
  • "Trouver les différences" type activities;

  • 60 minute lesson plans provided with prompts for students and tips to engage low-level and low-motivation students;
  • Games and activities suggested to get your class moving and interested in your lesson;
  • Explicit instruction (for you) on how to lead the lesson, the timeframes for the lessons, and instructions for the worksheets and activities;
  • Instructions on how to use the Slide Deck and the included activities and prompts;
  • Instructions for final project;
  • Recommendations and suggestions for high-achievers and early-finishers to keep them motivated in French content;

French Speaking Game - Non, parce que...

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French Speaking Game - Non, parce que...

What is this game?   A guessing game to get your students speaking!  This game is similar to (but more challenging than) the game of twenty questions. Be sure to check out the video preview!

➯ This resource is included in my French 2 curriculum: Ça y est, je parle français!

Number of players:  Two people or a small group.  It can be challenging, so I recommend this game for grades 6 and higher.

What is included:  50 playing cards

How to play: This game is very simple, but you really need to explain how it works for students to play it correctly and not turn it into a 20 questions type of game.  One player thinks of an object and the other players try to guess what it is. Each card has an image of a person, place, or a thing. The person holding the card is the one who will do the most speaking.  The other people in the group will simply ask questions like “C'est un / une _____?”  All they can ask is if the image on the card is a particular noun.  The person holding the card has to answer by saying, “Non, ce n'est pas un / une ____ parce que…..”

Examples:

Player 1 is holding a card and sees an image of a banana.

Player 2 says something like, “C'est une chaussure?”

Player 1 has to respond by starting out with saying something like “Non, parce que ce n'est pas quelque chose que l'on porte.”

Player 2 guesses another specific noun, and then another.  He or she might say “C'est une chaise?”

Player 1 might say "Non, parce qu'on ne s'assied pas dessus.

Player 2 continues to guess, and might say "C'est une voiture?"

Player 2 continues to guess, and might say "Ce sont des brocolis?"

Now that Player 2 has guessed a fruit, he’s pretty close.

Player 1 can now say something like "Non, mais c'est un fruit."

Player 2 now just starts guessing different fruits until he or she gets it.

This can be a challenging game that requires a good amount of thought, and you really have to tell your students who are guessing that they can’t ask question about what’s on the card.  They can ONLY ask if it’s a specific noun.  The player holding the card can’t answer YES or NO.  They really need to remember that their response has to begin with NO, BECAUSE…

This is a fun game that will really get your students speaking, and you’ll love hearing them as they play it!

FRENCH MATHS | JEU/GAME | J'AI QUI A | VALEUR DE POSITION | NOMBRE ENTIER

French Valentine's Day Vocabulary Categories Game - La Saint Valentin

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Play French scattergories when you need quick, no prep activities to play with your class while they practice their French Valentine's Day / La Saint Valentin vocabulary, oral, and written skills. These categories games includes many activities with a French Valentine's Day vocabulary theme which work well as ice-breakers.

Want this game in English?
⭐ Valentine's Day Scattergories Game

Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories on their game. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!

12 games are included with 48 different categories! For younger students you can allow more time for them to think and write, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.

See the preview for full teacher instructions.

By French Made Fun!

  • A simple spin on the classic game of I SPY ("Cherche et trouve" ou "C'est moi l'espion") geared towards Core French/FSL students in which they are first given practice with the structure: "Est-ce que c'est..." and answering the question with the affirmative, "oui, c'est..." or the negative, "non, ce n'est pas..."

  • Students are then provided an opportunity to take turns being the spy - using objects in your classroom.

  • It also comes with a 11" x 8.5" placemat to laminate (or to project onto your whiteboard/Smartboard) to provide students a visual when playing the game.

  • Colors, shapes, textures and prepositional phrases (left, right, on, under, behind) as well as size (big, small) are provided to give your students confidence and the vocabulary needed to make this game a hit!

  • I also provide an explanation of how I use this in my Core French classroom.

How to play (en français)

42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or cardstock

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations, and it will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! In the deck of 42 cards there are 7 families of 6 cards (je - tu - il - nous - vous - ils).

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the "pioche". One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He might say, "Dans la famille AVOIR, est-ce que tu as J'AI?"

His goal is to come up with a complete family. If the player doesn't have it, he says "pioche". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!

La maison - French 20 questions games - No prep printable speaking activities

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

La maison - French 20 questions games - No prep printable speaking activities The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 4 versions of the game, students will learn over 200 nouns that go way beyond what they learn from a textbook chapter theme about house and home. The words in the game include rooms in a house, different kinds of housing, parts of a house, common household and garden items and more. These games will work for any level as they are written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only versions! Included: 4 versions with vocabulary written in French and English 4 versions with vocabulary written in French only Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Each version includes 52 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. EST-CE QUE……. … tu es une personne? … tu es un animal? … tu es un minéral? … tu es un endroit? … tu es un aliment? … tu es une plante? … tu es un objet? The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

FRENCH MATHS | SANS CAHIER/PAPERLESS | PLACE VALUE | VALEUR DE POSITION | NOMBRE

  • Tableau d'ancrage inclus

  • Exemple modélisé

  • Activités en partenaires

  • 3 Modèles de tableau de valeur de position

  • 4 pages d'évaluation (sommative + corrigé).
