Through these activities, not only will they have fun working together or individually to solve the puzzles, but they will also have the opportunity to practice reading latitude and longitude coordinate grid systems (absolute location). Each moment is a teaching moment, and this holiday resource will allow reinforcement of their map reading skills. Students will use the absolute locations that are provided on the key and identify the points on the coordinate grid, drawing one line from one point to another. Guided Nutcracker Descriptive Essay ($5 Value)

This guided descriptive essay asks students to describe a nutcracker. There are three separate options to use based on the level and ability of your students.

Option 1: A full five-paragraph essay with three body paragraphs and an introduction and conclusion are required. This includes a planning page, a student requirement page, and a rubric.

Option 2: A fill-in-the-blank essay is used for young writers learning to spell and write. It includes a planning page, a student-required description, and a nutcracker to color according to the description.

Option 3: A Full five-paragraph essay with three body paragraphs, an introduction, and a conclusion is required. This includes a planning page, a student requirement page, and a rubric. A little less is required for this level.

Kingdom of Sweets Project Research Extension ($5 Value):

This project aims to help your child/students practice their research skills. They will pick one of the "realms" or regions based on the realms represented in the Nutcracker Ballet (when visiting after Marie/Clara rescues the Nutcracker/Prince). Children/students can practice following instructions and requirements by following the assignment's instructions. Two options are available to complete the report. 1. Predesigned Research Page or 2. Written Research Report (with introduction and conclusion). An optional presentation extension is available for students to create a project based on architecture, dress, or food research done on their report.
