This 14-page math situation will have your students creating a budget, following a budget, estimating and calculating total costs and creating their own super surprise bag! It will push your students' financial literacy and understanding of receipts, budgets, costs and quantities of items.

In this 14 page document, you'll find printable price lists, activities and the answer keys for all of the activities. Here are the activities you'll find in this document:

• Price list for all items covered in the printable activity pack;
• An activity on estimating costs (using mental math and multiplying decimal numbers);
• An activity on calculating the true cost of items (using algorithmic multiplication of whole and decimal numbers);
• 4 "questions d'approfondissement" where students write their answers in word form;
• An activity on calculating totals with various items and quantities;
• An activity on calculating items based on quantity, finding a subtotal, adding in taxes, and calculating the final total of a purchase ;
• A shopping bag activity to calculate Mme Janie's totals ;
• A shopping bag activity on creating their DREAM super surprise bag and calculating their total purchase.

This fun activity packet is great to use as revision, as a reward activity, and works EXCELLENT for a substitute plan! It covers me for roughly 2 math classes. I use it with my combined class (5 and 6) but it could also work wonderfully for students en adaptation scolaire working on financial literacy outcomes.

Recommended lesson plan for reading comprehension:

STEP 1:  Distribute the vocabulary list, and read the words aloud having students repeat after you.  All of the words listed are in the story they will read, and many of them may be new.  

STEP 2:  Distribute the 10 reading comprehension questions.  Have students read them before reading the story for greater understanding of the information they will need to retain.

STEP 3:  Distribute the 1 page story, and either have students read it silently, or read it together as a class with the teacher calling on individual students to read a passage aloud. 

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form as they read silently, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity once everyone has finished.

Recommended lesson plan for listening comprehension:

STEP 2:  Distribute the 10 listening comprehension questions.  Have students read them before listening to the story for greater understanding of the information they will need to retain.

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form while listening to the recording, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity.

This beefy 125+ page unit on weather and seasons is perfect for your older Core French students who might not have had the luxury of learning this vocabulary and these concepts when they were supposed to. Avoir and Descriptive French Adjectives - Correct the mistakes - No prep printable

A simple, fun, and no-prep one page BELL RINGER worksheet in which beginner French students identify mistakes that have been made in sentences using the verb avoir in the present tense with descriptive adjectives. Students underline the mistakes (the verbs are conjugated incorrectly, and the adjectives do not agree with the nouns they describe). Once they've identified the mistakes, they rewrite the sentences on the line provided. Answer key is included.

This worksheet could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or completed on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Le jeu des sept familles - This classic card game is fun for students of all ages! Looking for easy prep literacy activities for independent work during differentiated reading instruction? This version of the game is for practicing FAIRE PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATIONS and SPORTS.

Each of the 7 "families of cards" begins with one of the following, and conjugations in the present tense are used in the JE - TU - IL - NOUS - VOUS - ILS forms.

42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or card stock

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations. It will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements and will use EST-CE QUE to form simple questions.

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the "pioche". One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, "Est-ce que tu fais du karaté?"

The goal is to come up with complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (JE - TU - IL - NOUS- VOUS - ILS). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn't have it, he says "pioche". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!

This is a free set of 32 dominoes with French and English words related to Valentine's Day. This is an easy, very low prep activity that your students will enjoy playing during the month of February. Print out the game on card stock, cut out, and laminate for years of no prep practice and fun for your students. French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking

This resource is very similar to another one (also free) in which you'll have students talking about the house, hotel, vacation, etc. of their worst nightmares. Students will talk all about the house, etc. of their dreams in this one. I like to use these resources one after the other while the content is still fresh, but the vocabulary will change dramatically when students shift from what they would love to what would give them nightmares!

This is a no prep, one page activity for intermediate to advanced level students, and the content is perfectly suitable both for primary (French immersion) and secondary curriculums. There are fifteen questions that will have them talking about, for example, the house of their dreams. This is meant to be a paired or small group activity, but it is NOT meant to just have students take turns describing what they would love. The idea is to imagine that everyone in the group is going to live in the house together. There will probably be some things that everyone agrees on, and there will certainly be things they will disagree on. When I have my students do this activity, it's always fun to watch them debate what is and what is not important. In the end, they can agree to disagree! My students really have a good time with this activity, and I love seeing the imagination that they have!

Le Printemps - French 20 Questions Game for Spring The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 3 versions of the game, students will practice asking questions about 156 different nouns and adjectives related to SPRING - PRINTEMPS. There is a French - English set and one that is only in French. Click here for an English only version in my English resources store
Included: 3 versions with 56 words each in French and English 3 versions with 56 words each in French Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Each version includes 52 words. Many of the words will likely be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice asking questions, but also to build and reinforce vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words written on the chart. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 5 versions of the game, students will learn over 250 nouns that go beyond what they learn from a textbook chapter theme or every day classroom vocabulary.

5 versions with vocabulary written in French and English

5 versions with vocabulary written in French only

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity.

Each version includes 52 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.
