7th Grade Life Skills Resources (by date, oldest first)

Do your students know how to properly make entries into a spreadsheet to keep track of their deposits and withdrawals? I have created an Excel and Google Sheets spreadsheet to make it easy for them. Each spreadsheet has 3 tabs - 1) showing them what I created, 2) a blank spreadsheets with headings, & 3) a black spreadsheet so they can follow the easy directions I have provided to create their own. What a great way for them to keep track of the money they receive, spend, and be able to balance their checking account!

On the main thumbnail, please download the specific directions to create their own spreadsheet. It is a learning experience in the area of financial literacy + they are gaining Excel and Google Sheets skills.

• 8 worksheets where students are given monthly bank statements for 2 – 3 people and are asked a variety of questions. (Who spent the most on expenses?, Who had the most income this money? How much did they save each month? Etc.)
• 6 worksheets where students use real-world examples of monthly bank statements for multiple people and saving goals to practice identifying and calculating the amount of money needed for a desired expense (ex. video game or trip) and calculating how much money will need to be saved each month in order to attain the desired expense.  
• Teacher answer key included & suggested follow up activities.

Students will use their learned knowledge of needs, wants, income and expenses to identify these items in monthly Bank Statements/ budgets. Students will practice identifying and calculating the amount of money needed for a desired expense (ex. This resource is designed to expose students to a variety of real-world job postings that they will see as they get ready to transition into the workforce. Students will read the job postings and answer comprehension questions to show understanding (Ex. What is the hourly pay? What are the job responsibilities? What is schedule?). Students will also reflect on the job requirements, duties and benefits and decide if it would be a good fit for them.

This resource helps students to learn about name brand and generic items and identify the difference between the two.
