Comme ces cartes flash mettent l'accent sur le vocabulaire plutôt que sur les valeurs numériques, elles sont idéales pour les élèves de la 4e année et plus, en particulier ceux qui ont du mal à distinguer les différentes opérations géométriques.

A cut and paste activity for 2D shapes that helps students review different properties of shapes. This engaging activity will have students practicing their geometry skills while they work their way through stations using pi to solve problems. Students will be directed to color areas of a color sheet with specific colors based on their answers.

The following skills are practiced:

• digits of pi
• finding the radius and diameter
• finding circumference when given radius or diameter
• finding area when given radius or diameter
• finding volume when given radius and height

I allow students to use calculators on this activity when we are short on time. There are opportunities to practice working with decimals.

Directions for Use:

*Students will be given the Word Problem page along with the Pi Symbol Page. These may be printed front to back if you choose.

*Students will answer the first question on their Word Problem page. This will lead them to one of the dots on their Pi Symbol page. They will make a straight line from the dot next to the answer for #1 to the dot that is next the answer to #2 (then from #2 to #3). They will start a new sequence of lines for each set.

*I recommend reading aloud the directions on the paper but also reiterate what was stated above so students truly understand the process of this activity.

*Allow students to decorate and color.
