This activity unit has information and activities to learn about the different summer sports. This French summer sports activities packet is especially timely with so many big international events taking place this year!

The unit includes:

 • 2-page reading about the different sports and athletes

• 41 printable 8.5X11 posters with the French term for each sport

• comprehension questions

• a vocabulary activity - name the activity pictured

• athlete dossiers - 16 different athletes from French-speaking countries - research their biographical information, what sport they do, what country they represent and what they've achieved. Includes a blank sheet so students can choose other athletes if desired. Includes social media links to athletes so you can follow them online.

With large upcoming international competitions taking place in 2024, it's the perfect time to learn about French summer sports activities. Your students can learn about sports that they may not have heard of before and follow the competitions.

This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic French online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

• Translate their American dollars into Euros

• Browse through clothing categories

• Convert to European sizes

• Add items to their virtual shopping cart

• Stay within a given budget

• Take notes on new French vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

• Complete a "Liste de Cadeaux" to document their purchases

• Prepare a brief oral presentation in French to share with the class.

This project not only reinforces essential language skills such as vocabulary acquisition and currency conversion but also promotes empathy, cultural awareness, and community engagement. This digital student portfolio project for Google Sites is the perfect way to help your students showcase their work in a professional, organized, and user-friendly way. I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.

These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;

Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.

The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;

In this lesson, students choose a woman they feel contributed something important to society and then create a presentation about her and the contribution. A variety of choices are offered for the student to choose from, and also to allow teachers to use this lesson with the software they have available.
