This French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the protests in France in 2023 about the raising of the retirement age from 62 to 64. These protests were on the news due to their size and violence, and may students are interested in understanding why people in France were so angry.

This Google™ slides French reading activity includes three versions of the article - one for advanced learners, one for intermediate learners, and one for novice learners. No matter which version you use with your students, the comprehension questions in French and English will allow them to show you that they've understood. This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic French online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

• Translate their American dollars into Euros

• Browse through clothing categories

• Convert to European sizes

• Add items to their virtual shopping cart

• Stay within a given budget

• Take notes on new French vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

• Complete a "Liste de Cadeaux" to document their purchases

• Prepare a brief oral presentation in French to share with the class.

This project not only reinforces essential language skills such as vocabulary acquisition and currency conversion but also promotes empathy, cultural awareness, and community engagement. Digital Student Portfolio Project for Google Sites

This digital student portfolio project for Google Sites is the perfect way to help your students showcase their work in a professional, organized, and user-friendly way. With this product, you can quickly create portfolios that highlight student work, achievements, and more. I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.

These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;

Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.

The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;

Learning about Transportation Careers gives students an introduction to what individuals in this career field do on the job. This is perfect for a technology, business or marketing class, or a class that focuses on careers. Students learn about the career as they research information and create a short PowerPoint presentation. Next, they apply their knowledge to learn more about logistics as they choose a product and understand how it would be transported and stored. Finally, they use Sketchup (a free CAD download) to create an “ideal” form of transportation and justify their choices for the design. This project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be adapted for older students.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
