Your students will enjoy practicing French semester 1 topics in this French snowman game!  As they complete the tasks, they will gather the objects needed to build a snowman.  The game is self-grading and students will need to get all of the answers correct in order to move on.

There are 5 different challenges.  The tasks will have students using different skills to practice the topics and vocabulary commonly taught in a first semester French course. Each task will help the student gather an item to build a snowman.

**Task 1: **Listen to the audio and select the correct image of school supplies.

**Task 2: **Read the information about the people and their favorite activities and match the images

Task 3: Match the digits to the numbers

Task 4: Play "memory" to match the French sentences with the image of the clockk face

**Task 5: **Place the verbs in the correct position to complete the paragraph - avoir, être and ER verbs.

At the end of the game, the students will have 5 different objects.  They will use the objects to build a snowman.  After they complete the snowman, they will see a screen of a cup of hot chocolate and a congratulations note. As the game does not track student data, you will want them to take a screenshot as proof of completion.

This high-interest WebQuest will get students thinking about the impact of climate change on other people. There is an article explaining that humans have been migrating because of climate-related issues for years. Then they will dig deeper by reading articles and answering questions about the more recent impact climate change has had on human migration. This digital student portfolio project for Google Sites is the perfect way to help your students showcase their work in a professional, organized, and user-friendly way. I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.

These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;

Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.

The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;

Engineering Career Research and Brochure Project has students utilize Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher to showcase their research about an engineering career of choice. In addition to allowing students to build skills in those programs, they also develop their skills in Internet research, reading, writing and critical thinking. In this project, students research an engineering career of their choice, following a list of required information and then create a tri-fold brochure in either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher to share that information. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be adapted for older students.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
