Building letters activity for Capital Letters

In this hands on, multisensory activity, students won’t even realize they are learning! In this resource, they will learn letter formation by first building the letter with bricks, coloring the brick letter, tracing the letter, and then writing the letter.

Building letters with blocks is not only a fun and engaging way to learn letter formation, but students are working on foundational fine motor skills needed for writing. When writing letters for this activity, students use handwriting letter boxes to help with letter size, placement, and spacing. In this product, students will sort the 36 picture cards (18 fall picture cards and 18 picture cards that represent other seasons). Students will place the 18 fall picture cards under the label, "Fall," and the other 18 picture cards will be placed under, "Other Seasons." Students can then review the vocabulary words that are included with each picture card, make up sentences, discuss what they like to do in the fall and dislike about the fall, etc.
