Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, is an annual 15-day Chinese festival that begins with the new moon that occurs between January 21 and February 20. This creative Winter Concert Decorations: Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this PDF file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen. For this assignment, I asked students to get with a partner or into small groups and brainstorm subject matter, orientation, and theme of the overall composition. Plus, decide which group member(s) will be in charge of what to draw and where to draw it. Students will need to sketch out ideas first inside a sketchbook, transfer the sketches to Final Copy Paper, outline the large image, and start coloring in everything with crayon. Sadly, most other art materials will ruin the roll paper. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy!

The book, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a great book for students. The Herdmans want to be in the Christmas pageant, which causes no one else to want to participate, but it turns out that them starring in the Christmas Pageant wasn't that bad. This is a great holiday book for students, and it also talks about friendship, acceptance, and helping others. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text and each chapter. Students will have the opportunity to answer both short answer and multiple choice throughout each chapter. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and example sentences are presented in the packet. Students can also write sentences using the vocabulary words. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet. Words that students may need help with spelling when answering comprehension questions are provided in this product as well. Each chapters questions are divided up throughout this product. An answer key is included at the end of this product along with comprehension questions that allow students to reflect on the whole book, who their favorite character was, what the plot of the story was, etc.

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards that analyzes Halloween traditions or similar holidays that occur around the world.

This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, escape the haunted house that they are trapped in. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #6. Students MUST record which task card they found the answer on in their answer sheet under the “FOUND CARDS #” column. That column will be used at the end for the 4 digit lock code. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have successfully escaped the haunted house!

This activity would be a great as a center activity, a group activity, a holiday activity on or near Halloween, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!
