Differentiated "Guess Who Game" for Sight Words

Dolch Sight Words for pre-primer, primer, first grade, second grade, and third grade

Engage your elementary school ELA students by using this sight word game to practice reading sight words. Ideas for differentiation and prompting are included to ensure the game is suitable for students of all academic levels. This game also includes five levels of word difficulty- from pre-primer to third grade level words. The sets of cards are notated with different colored inner borders so you can easily tell them apart.

Note: All sight words for each level are included, but the entire set will not fit in each game board as the boards only hold 24 cards. Before game play, decide which cards you want your students to use and make sure the cards in both boards and the word card piles match.

Our "I Spy" game is just one part of a comprehensive toolkit that provides diverse and interactive methods for teaching and learning. During each of the four weeks of each module from 1 to 3, students will work on the words for the entire module (4 words in module 1, 12 words in module 2, and 12 words in module 3). This packet contains 96 different words that represent the different beginning and ending digraphs. Each word will have 3 different cards (one for each set described below) for a total of 288 cards. Each card will have a picture and the word to practice beginning and ending digraphs. This product is great for differentiation with several different sets of cards. Some cards will be missing parts of the words and students will use the letter/sound tiles to fill in the missing sounds or letters in the word.

There are three types of cards in this packet

• The first set has a picture and the word fully spelled out so students can cover the words with the correct letter tiles.
• The second set has a picture and the word spelled out but missing the r-controlled vowels. Students must fill in the correct r-controlled spelling to complete the word.
• The third set has a picture but the word is missing completely. Students will use the letter/sound tiles to completely spell the word.

The Digraphs Represented in this Packet are:

• Beginning Digraphs: CH, KN, PH, QU, SH, TH, WH, WR
• Ending Digraphs: CH, CK, PH, MB, NG, SH, TH

Practice reading and spelling CVCe words. Students can get practice filling in the missing letters in the magic e words. Print the silent e letter tiles in a different color to show students the E does not make a sound!

This set contains 35 unique CVCe cards where students can complete hands on word work activities. There is a set of cards that focus on beginning sounds, middle sounds, magic e, as well as a set that focuses on spelling the CVCe words.

This is a low prep center where you just need to print, laminate and cut out the cards. You can mark clothespins with the correct letters for students to clip to the cards in the correct space. You can use the letter tiles provided in this packet to complete the cards. You can also use magnetic letters, wooden or plastic letter tiles, or any other letter manipulative to fill in the missing letters.

(Optional) Add Velcro dots to the cards with the missing letters and tiles so they stick easily.
