Note: The flashcards should be printed on construction paper or a thicker paper. Then you can cut out the cards, glue the backs together, and laminate them for use year after year.

BONUS TIP!

Print the flash cards twice to make a bonus matching game! For this use of the resource, do not glue the crayon cards and word cards together; just print them separately and cut them out. Then, turn the cards facedown on a table. In pairs of two, students can take turns flipping over two cards at a time. When the student finds the card with the written word and the same color crayon at the same time, they can keep the pair.

HOW IT WORKS

Your students will get excited for this activity which will have them hiding "pieces" of a ripped treasure map around the class and finding the locations in your classroom of their peers' "pieces." In fact, take it from my grade 6's who begged me to make more activities exactly like this one... So I did. They try these out before you guys do and let me know what's fun - they've given this the seal of approval.

Your sneaky investigators will need to piece together the map by collecting the ordered pairs of the map components in their handy collection journal, will plot their points in the treasure map and find the location of the treasure chest! In this activity, they'll be focusing on the first quadrant, ordered pairs and X and Y axes.

Included in this 8-page activity is:

• An explanation page which details how the activity works.
• A "collection" journal for them to track their findings.
• A "cartesian treasure map" for them to "plot" their broken map pieces and rebuild the treasure map to find the buried treasure.
• An answer key.
• Enough printable cards for 35 students.

This works amazingly for a sub and takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour for the students to hide the map parts, find the map parts, and then rebuild the map in their cartesian plane - and finally, to find that loot! YAR MATEYS!

Easy to use, no prep worksheet to practice using the verbs vouloir, pouvoir and devoir in the present tense. Fill in the blanks with the correct present tense form of the verb in parentheses. There are ten sentences for each verb for a total of 30. Each set of ten sentences is separate so that students work on one verb at a time. An answer key is provided.

French passé composé with être or avoir worksheet including regular, irregular, and reflexive verbs. Some simple negation is used. 50 sentences are written in the present tense. Students rewrite sentences in the passé composé. Take a closer look in the preview!

Verbs in the present tense sentences are underlined. Students have to identify the infinitives before rewriting sentences in the past, making past participle agreement when necessary. An answer key is provided.

Quick and easy to use French dialogue listening comprehension for beginners exercise using être, aller, avoir and faire in the present tense. The dialogue is between Arthur, 9 years old, and Jeanne, the principal at his new school. Verbs are written in the present tense, and are in bold print and underlined. Audio, a cloze exercise, conjugation charts, and a fill in the blank exercise are included.

My students enjoy performing this dialogue as a skit in front of the class, and it's also perfect for using to speak with partners! Everything is in French, so this resource is perfect for traditional French classrooms as well as immersion.

Included:

• One page script using être, aller, avoir and faire mostly in the present tense. All verbs are in bold print and underlined. Some futur proche is used with the verb aller, there's some use of the imperative, and the verb faire is in the passé composé once.
• Audio of the dialogue for listening comprehension - m4a file
• Cloze activity - Fill in the blanks with conjugated verbs while listening to the audio
• Conjugation charts for each of the four verbs and space for taking notes
• Another conjugation chart to fill in using a different format

French months and days cut and paste activity - Les jours et les mois

These cut and paste worksheets will help your beginner French students learn the days of the week and the months. Great for core French and immersion schools!

How to use these worksheets:

One worksheet is included for the days of the week and the 12 months are on two sheets. Have your students cut off the bottom part of the worksheet where indicated with scissors. Then have them cut out the days and months. Now they're ready to paste the days and months in the right spot on the paper. They should put the days and months in chronological order.

Next to each numbered space there are lines where students write out the days and months to help with spelling. When they've finished they'll enjoy coloring the numbers and the little black and white image at the top of the page. This activity is included in my French months and days bundle. Daily French journals are a wonderful way to start class. You can set this journal up as a bell ringer activity or an early finisher journal. Your students will actively engage in practicing their French in a personalized and meaningful way. This resource saves you valuable time by not having to write journal questions yourself. The sequence of tasks is designed to be repetitive so that the tasks remain familiar and achievable, yet the content changes every day to keep it fresh!

The second half of the pages is more challenging than the first as it includes reflexive verbs (even some idiomatic ones), and the vocabulary is at a higher level.

You'll see that I printed mine double sided on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a booklet that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well.

PRINTING:

8.5 x 11 letter paper works well for printing this document. All of the pages are black and white and do not require too much ink. I recommend printing the pages double sided. You can bind the pages together with staples, a binder clip, by punching holes in the pages and inserting into a folder, or you can have the pages bound together at a business supply store.

It's hard to find worksheets to practice choosing between the passé composé, the imperfect or the plus-que-parfait. This French exercise includes 20 sentences, and two versions are included. Take a closer look in the preview!

• Multiple choice version to use when your main focus is to have students choose the correct tense depending on context.
• Fill in the blank version to use when you want your students to choose between le passé composé, l'imparfait, le plus-que-parfait and conjugate all of the verbs.
• Some pronouns and other intermediate level grammar topics are used.

I wrote these exercises when I knew that my students could conjugate these three French past tenses, but they needed practice knowing when to use them.

Passé composé - Imparfait - Plus-que-parfait - French grammar worksheet

When teaching how to form French questions with interrogative words, this lesson has it all! Video, lesson guide with examples, exercises, and a really fun activity to try out with your students.

This lesson is all about how to add meaningful question words to simple questions in French so that you will get more than a "yes" or "no" answer. Your students will learn how to use the question words: qui, quoi, que, quel, quand, où, pourquoi, comment, and combien (de). This lesson includes a video, so it can easily be assigned as homework, and you can save precious class time for the fun stuff!

Students will learn the rules for knowing where to place the question word in the sentence depending on the type of question they've decided to ask. This lesson is to be used along with my video lesson (external link provided).

Here you will find the basic rules needed for forming questions using intonation, est-ce que, and inversion. There are many useful examples to help understand the rules, and there's even an exercise (with answers included) to test knowledge.
