6 File Folder Games

File folder games allow students opportunities to learn to through play. Communication and appropriate interactions are important skills they will need throughout life.

This set provides 6 different activities, however they each follow the same general rules, expectations, and idea. I use this with my kiddos that need practice turn taking, losing (students may lose a desired game piece), cooperation, following directions, matching and so much more. The games are easy in nature, however highly addictive for the competitive kids. This allows for opportunities with students in differing abilities.

The themes for the games are:

Fill the Wagon

Make a cake

Buggy Day

Laundry

Moon Walk

Ice Cream

Rules (some differences in games - this example is the Fill the wagon rules).

Contents & Prep:

• Print/Laminate 1 mat per person, use a expo marker to personalize wagons.  Each player will collect their items in their wagon.
• Print and laminate 4 dogs, 4 flowers, 4 ice cream, 4 bubbles, 1 book, 1 leaf pile - place them in the middle of the game board. 
• Print the game board and glue/laminate to a file folder
• Print and prepare dice (or use your own dice)

*For easy storage of game pieces attach an envelope to the back of the file folder prior to lamination.  Make a small slice in the lamination to release the top of the envelope.  Attach velcro to close.  

Object:  Be the first to collect all the items except the leaf pile in your wagon.   If you have the books or the leaf pile and someone else lands on it you have to give it to the other player.  

Choose your player:  Once you have chosen your player, place them on the board any spot will do!

Directions:  

1. Roll the dice and move your player.
2. Collect the pieces as you go and place them in your wagon.   You may only get one of each item!  
3. The first person to collect 1 dog, 1 flower, 1 ice cream, 1 bubble and the books wins!

These community-building activities and games are perfect for the first weeks of school! Students will use collaboration and teamwork which will build a positive learning community in your classroom. In order to learn and grow, children first need to be able to express how they feel and why they feel that way! Placing an emphasis on social emotional learning will help equip your students with skills to become better learners and ultimately better people.

Play and Purposes Feelings unit focuses on:

• Using picture books to share real life examples of how we can understand and express our emotions
• Practicing expressing feelings individually, in pairs, small groups, and as a whole class
• Learning about feelings, identifying them, and expressing them through playing games, writing, and creative expression

The Preschool lessons included in this unit includes 5 activity types:

The 12 week unit covers the following topics:

• Feelings Identification
• Happiness

There are many different ways that you could play this game whether it is as a full class and you try to beat the clock, or in small groups where students can work together to solve the puzzles! The Prep to play this Escape Room is minimal-all you need is the video link and a copy of the Google Form for each group. I played this game with my Grade 6/7 class online and they LOVED it. I had students who were usually pretty quiet online take over and shine!

Emotions are BIG in preschool classrooms and at home! In order to learn and grow, children first need to be able to express how they feel and why they feel that way. This learning unit has been designed with children aged 3 to 4 years old in mind, and contains 10 games, drawing activities and crafts to engage learners**.**

This is a bingo game for the items that are for the Christmas nativity. This bingo game could be used to teach or review items that you’d associate with the birth of Jesus because they will have to identify and mark an image of the item.

The game is called “STAR” (when players get 4 in a row, they say "STAR" instead of "bingo'), so it is 4x4, which is 16 spaces per game board. There is no “free space”. There is a total of 24 cards and each of them has border that is holy. There are also 2 types of calling cards that include the image of the item and the name. This bingo game is in full color.
