Habitat Centers and Activities for The Forest

This packet provides activities and centers about the different kinds of animals and trees that live in the forest. It can be a simple packet for talking about the animals and plants in general or you can go further by learning about the plants in the coniferous forest verses the plants that live in the deciduous forest. Pages 3-5 – These pages are a sorting activity where students can sort the animals and plants according to whether they are in a deciduous forest or a coniferous forest. Combine this sorting set with those from other Habitat sets for more sorting options. Pages 6-13 – The pages are for drawing pictures of different kinds of forests and drawing animals that live there. Student will write the names for the animals they draw. There are pages for forests, woodlands, the Amazon and the African jungle. Each type of forest has 2 pages with different writing lines. Pages 14-19 – These are poster pages for each type of forest and the plants and animals that live there. Pages 20-23 – These are clip cards for telling whether the animals live in the woodlands or the rain forest. The cards are available with and without the animal names Page 24 – This is a memory/concentration game. Print this sheet twice and cut them out to make the game! Pages 25-32 – Available in color and in black and white, these are forest picture cards. You can use these to hang around the room for reference or combine them with other Habitat sets to make sorting mats. You can also combine these from other sets to create a habitat book. Pages 33-34 – Available in color and in black and white, they are small animal cards to use to sort on the forest mats. Pages 35-36 – Clip Cards where you clip whether the tree or parts of trees are found in a coniferous forest or a deciduous forest.
