Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked the students to create two separate artworks: a drawing (colored in), and a collage artwork. Students spent two days drawing and coloring a flowerpot artwork. Students spent another two days creating a flowerpot collage artwork that showed similarities in color and patterns used to their drawing artwork. We were able to hang both artworks in the art gallery side-by-side each other to show the comparisons. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

Netflix has the free episodes of their Our Planet series on YouTube. Each episode is between 49 to 51 minutes long. I usually have students vote on which one they want to watch. You do NOT have to watch them in order.

Make sure to read the questions to the students beforehand so that they know what information they are looking for.

Have your student examine and explore the Environmental Issues Around the World 5 Geographical Themes lesson in your geography classroom and encourage them to use their higher-level thinking skills to identify and problem-solve. Students will learn about the world's environmental issues through presentations of the final products. In addition to problem-solving skills. students will practice public speaking skills, which they will take into the world.

OBJECTIVE:

• The learner will identify an environmental issue around the world.
• The learner will be able to recognize things they can do to save our earth.
• The learner will be able to illustrate an environmental issue that is harmful to our environment and present a solution to the problem.
• The learner will revisit and apply the 5 geographical themes.

MATERIALS FOR RESEARCH ACTIVITY

Access to the Internet for research (or) various printed articles, one for each team. Suggestions of articles are provided, but as time evolves, the issues may change and the articles may become irrelevant or outdated. Please make sure to keep your articles updated. The way to avoid outdated articles is to allow students to choose their articles and complete research. The instructor may also choose his/her articles for this lesson. If the link doesn’t work, as they often change addresses, Google the article name, and you more than likely will be able to find the article, as the article usually remains on the web, but the address may have changed.

As if in real-life circumstances, students come together to create a non-profit 501c3 with a purpose or mission on solving this world issue. The “Science Kids” series is intended to help teachers implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on science activities for children in Preschool, Kindergarten and the early grades. The activities in these packets are based on the scientific method and encourage inquiry-based learning.

A they work through the experiments in this packet the students will explore the following concepts:

1. Human beings cause pollution on the Earth.
2. Pollution is harmful to the land, air and water of the Earth
3. People can help reduce and prevent the amount of pollution on the Earth.

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards about Earth Day which is would be useful to help teach students about the creation of Earth Day, reason behind it, ways to keep our planet healthy/clean and ways to make a difference every day through small changes.

This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, complete the tasks to solve the mystery word and four digit code to discover secrets to a healthier and cleaner planet that would benefit both humans as well as wildlife. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have discovered the secrets to a healthier planet!

This activity would be a great review before assessments, as a center activity, a group activity, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!
