Looking for a simple worksheet for students to complete while watching the Netflix Series: Our Planet? Great for sub plans or weird schedule days!

Our Planet is a British nature documentary series made for Netflix. The series is narrated by David Attenborough and produced by Silverback Films, led by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, who also created BBC documentary series Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and The Blue Planet, in collaboration with the conservation charity World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Netflix has the free episodes of their Our Planet series on YouTube. Each episode is between 49 to 51 minutes long. I usually have students vote on which one they want to watch. You do NOT have to watch them in order.

Make sure to read the questions to the students beforehand so that they know what information they are looking for.

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Flowerpot Collage Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this PDF file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked the students to create two separate artworks: a drawing (colored in), and a collage artwork. Students spent two days drawing and coloring a flowerpot artwork. Students spent another two days creating a flowerpot collage artwork that showed similarities in color and patterns used to their drawing artwork. We were able to hang both artworks in the art gallery side-by-side each other to show the comparisons. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards about Earth Day which is would be useful to help teach students about the creation of Earth Day, reason behind it, ways to keep our planet healthy/clean and ways to make a difference every day through small changes.

This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, complete the tasks to solve the mystery word and four digit code to discover secrets to a healthier and cleaner planet that would benefit both humans as well as wildlife. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. Students MUST record which task card they found the answer on in their answer sheet under the “FOUND CARDS #” column. That column will be used at the end for the 4 digit lock code. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have discovered the secrets to a healthier planet!

This activity would be a great review before assessments, as a center activity, a group activity, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!
