Teachers tell me they can't integrate yoga and mindfulness for two reasons: They don't know how and they don't have time. I hear that 100%.

This product is made to help you SAVE time, but first, you have to invest your time. If you spend ten minutes a day, 3 times a week in September and October, by November you only spend 5 minutes, and by January kids are doing this all by themselves. We follow the story of Shannon, a business magnate who travels for her profession and is compelled to wait in line to purchase the brand new gaming system, The Flexdrive 2000. She plans to present this gift to her two children as she flies home after the Thanksgiving holiday. After unexpectedly waiting in the checkout line longer than she anticipates, she realizes that she missed her flight home – and that’s when the story begins take on a b-plot of its own. Shannon, along with other supporting coworkers, acquaintances, and a South California beach bum, are forced to make choices that will directly impact the holiday shopping season, and more importantly, time spent with their families. Join us in a hip-hop, non-stop adventure through the post- Thanksgiving merchandise frenzy in ”Black Flyday” The musical is 25 minutes in duration and features 6 movements in various musical genres. I always started my morning with this as it allowed students to get focused and ready to learn. Also, after having done many together, I would then have the students do one alone and use it as assessment. These vocabulary activities are meant to accompany my whole year French writing program and my whole year French reading programs which follow the same themes.

Provide each student with a lectures de la semaine folder and have them add to it every day as you provide daily assignments. You can easily combine themed reading, vocabulary, and writing activities in the same weekly folder if you choose to implement my complete reading and writing programs. At the end of the week have students turn in their folders. On Monday, you can start over again with a new theme.

Use these weekly no-prep vocabulary activities with many different levels whether you teach in immersion, core, or traditional settings.

DEPARTMENT USE:

Here’s how to use this vocabulary program + reading program + writing program which are sold separately:

✍Lundi: VOCABULAIRE - List of 12 words and expressions; J'écris mes douze mots de la semaine

✍Lundi: LIRE - Read paragraph #1 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Lundi: ÉCRIRE -  Je dessine - Give students a drawing page with a writing prompt at the top. This will have them beginning to think about the writing theme for the week and is their first pre-writing assignment. Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration!

✍Mardi: VOCABULAIRE - Je recopie mes douze mots de la semaine 3 fois; Je mets mes douze mots de la semaine dans l'ordre alphabétique

✍Mardi: LIRE - Read paragraph #2 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Mardi: ÉCRIRE - Mon livret de vocabulaire - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used French words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them colour it.

✍Mercredi: VOCABULAIRE - Je découpe et je colle mes douze mots de la semaine

✍Mercredi: LIRE - Read paragraph #3 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Mercredi: ÉCRIRE - Vocabulaire - Students go back to their vocabulary booklets from Tuesday and choose ten words that they will include in their rough draft. The words they choose can be a combination of words they have chosen and themed vocabulary that was already written in the booklet. They then write down the chosen words on their vocabulary page that says “ Mots de vocabulaire utiles: J’utiliserai ces mots dans mon paragraphe.”

✍Jeudi: VOCABULAIRE - Dots & Boxes: Je joue avec un ami; Je cherche mes douze mots cachés de la semaine

✍Jeudi: LIRE - Read paragraph #4 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Jeudi: ÉCRIRE - Mon brouillon - Students write a rough draft of their paragraph using the vocabulary words selected on Wednesday. The brouillon page includes a 5 point checklist at the top for students to evaluate their work for themselves before writing the final copy on Friday. This will motivate students to look over their work and make corrections. 

✍Vendredi: VOCABULAIRE - J'écris des phrases avec mes douze mots de la semaine

✍Vendredi: LIRE - Read paragraph #5 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Vendredi: ÉCRIRE - Ma copie propre - The fifth and final step in this writing program is to write the final copy. Students should feel very confident in writing about this week’s theme by now. At the top of the final copy page they’ll see the writing prompt and question words that they can ask themselves while writing:  qui - quoi - quand - où - pourquoi - comment
