Environment Centers

The Science Kids curriculum is intended to help teachers implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on science activities for children in Preschool, Kindergarten and the early grades. The activities in these packets are based on the scientific method and encourage inquiry-based learning. All activities can be differentiated to meet the needs of your students.

This year long bundle includes 16 Science Units:

This packet includes enough lessons for 32 weeks of hands-on learning. While 32 weeks is a bit shorter than a typical school year, this curriculum is designed to be flexible in order to give children the time they need to learn, so extra days are allowed for each unit. Additional, optional activities are also included for many of the units, and these can be used to help fill your days if needed.

This curriculum supports the Next Generation Science Standards for kindergarten.

Energy Production and Consumption Analysis: China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Canada

This comprehensive set of worksheets is designed for Grade 6 students to analyze and compare energy production and consumption patterns across different regions, focusing on China, Macau, Hong Kong, and Canada. The package includes three engaging activities & address outcomes related to energy resources and climate change.

This packet focuses on learning about the different kinds of animals that live in the rain forest. It will make a great supplement for any rain forest unit! It can be a simple packet for talking about the animals in general or you can go further by learning about the animals in the Amazon vs. the African Jungle.

Pages 3-5 – These pages are for sorting animals for the African Jungle and the Amazon rain forest. Combine these sorting cards with other sets to sort between different habitats.

Pages 6-13 – The pages are for drawing pictures of different kinds of rain forest and drawing animals that live there. Student will write the names for the animals they draw. There are pages for the tropical rain forests, the jungle, the African Jungle and the Amazon. Each type of rain forest has 2 pages with different writing lines.

Pages 14-21 – These are poster pages for each type of rain forest. There is a set of posters that include the animal names and a set that do not.

Pages 22-27 – These are clip cards for telling whether the animals live in the African Jungle or the Amazon. Cards are included with and without the animal names.

Page 28 – This is a memory/concentration game. Print this sheet twice and cut them out to make the game!

Pages 29-32 – Available in color and in black and white, these are rain forest picture cards. They can be used with page 33/34 as sorting mats or you can hang them for reference in your room. You can also combine these from other sets to create a habitat book.

Pages 33-34 – Available in color and in black and white, they are small animal cards to use to sort on the rain forest mats.

Pages 35-42 – True and False task cards with answer sheet and answer key.

Pages 43 – Non-fiction informative story

Page 44-45 – Instructions for a rain forest habitat box.

Help students predict and classify with this observation journal! Students first learn about the flowering plant life cycle. Then, they label the important parts of a plant. Student then plant one of 4 seeds- sunflower, firecracker, moonflower or marigold. They make predictions on what flower this will become based on the identification pages. Once a week, or whenever the educator feels is fit, the students note any changes, make a prediction on draw an observation. Let the growing begin! Seeds not included :)

This coordinate system graphic art mystery picture would be ideal for students that are just beginning with graphing coordinates or students that need a little extra practice. The classifying plants file folder activity allows students to label the parts of plants - cells, stem, roots, and leaves. Students will also match the following vocabulary words and their meanings with pictures: parallel veins and netted veins found in leaves, soft stems and woody stems, smooth leaf margins and jagged leaf margins found on leaves, waxy texture, smooth texture, and rough texture found on leaves, and taproots and fibrous roots.
