School in France Internet activity packet - French culture
By Frenchified
This French cultural activity packet will help your students to understand the structure and practical life in the French school system. Different activities will let your students explore the life of a French high school student and compare it to their own experience.
Each activity has links they can use to find the information they need to complete the activity. The links are kept in a Google document that you can share with your students, but each page also has clickable links as well. You can share my links, or if you find particular links you would like them to use, you can give them those instead.

Journée du Chandail Rose Colouring-Pink Shirt Day Activity-FRENCH Resource
By La trousse de Madame
French Pink Shirt Day FREEBIE
This quick and easy resource is for use near the end of the month of February to recognize Pink Shirt Day. The story behind this day is one that has a positive influence on students as they understand that it is not OK to bully EVER.
I hope you are able to use this resource in your class by quickly making copies and allowing students to use their creativity and unique perspectives to colour and decorate how they see fit.
Personally, I made copies onto pink printer paper in poster size 200% to make two big posters with the title 'Jour du chandail rose' and students have placed their Tshirts around the poster. Older students will also make theirs with a writing piece to explain their views on Pink Shirt Day in French.
Merci:
Thank you for visiting my TeachShare store and for downloading this FREEBIE
How to use this resource:
1. Copy a set for students. I like to copy multiple sets (ie. 3 sets of 8 to insure that students sitting with one another do not have the same page next to them. I find this allows for more creative development as they do not copy their neighbour).
2. Let students colour and create and cut the shape of the Tshirt out
3. Display on a bulletin board or on the wall of your school
JE VOUS SOUHAITE UNE BONNE JOURNEE DU CHANDAIL ROSE
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are looking for French resources who want quick and easy NO PREP materials that their students will love. A fresh new look on a great idea and the best part is you just have to click 'print'.
Students love the clear lettering and can get creative using all the various pink writing materials in the class. I gave my students free reign of anything pink and they came up with their own unique designs.
Students are proud to be a part of a bigger project that they can all display with pride.
What grade level:
I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Back to School - French Craftivity - Royalty for the Day Activity, Low Prep
By Cheryl Bennett
Are you a CI teacher that struggles with whether to teach tu and vous first? I like to pick one and stick with it for a time to avoid confusion. In the past, I have used the tu form because the end sounds are the same for je, il/elle/on forms. This kept everything simple and kept target structures limited. However, vous is a very important pronoun in French. I don't want to think about sending kids to France and being in the habit of using tu. While some francophones would be sympathetic, some might be offended.
So, I have discovered a way to teach both simultaneously with a clear visual cue. A CRAFTIVITY, if you will. All you need in the classroom are
How does it work?
What if someone forgets to use the vous form with royalty? They have to pay a royalty tax! This is included in the resource. The student who has still kept their royalty coin(s) because they remembered to use the vous form can get a prize or just bragging rights! You can even have the class interview the student about things they like, dislike, etc. so everyone can learn about their king, queen, or whatever royal title they prefer.
Accommodation: Some students don't like being the center of attention for the entire class. In this case, you can group students together. Three in a group is a good number but use whatever works for you. Each group has one royal student. The others in the group have to use the vous form with that student and the royal student uses the tu form with everyone else (except maybe the teacher). You can even rotate groups so several students get the chance to talk to each royal member. Of course, the member of royalty stays on their "throne" while others come to see them.
You can use this for whatever level you choose. While I like the idea of starting with level one, you could wait. Furthermore, you can use this activity every year you teach, no matter the level. Even though students may be comfortable with tu and vous before level one is over, letting someone have a special day is good. They will have the opportunity to practice both pronouns and their conjugations with new verbs and new tenses or moods.
Students will feel special and you will see them grow in their language and confidence. So little for us to invest with such a great return on investment!

FRENCH | MAISON HANTÉE/HAUNTED HOUSE | HALLOWEEN | PBL | PROJECT | CREATE | FUN
By French Made Fun!
Your middle schoolers are bored and tired of the same coloring sheets, crosswords, and pumpkin cutouts they've seriously been doing for years. Do them a favor and switch up your Halloween routine with this fun project-based Halloween unit which features cross-curricular content in math and language arts.
In this unit, you (or your sub!) can easily lead an independent, self-guided project for your middle-school students in grades 4 through 8. As with all of my products, you'll never see frilly hard-to-read fonts or babyish images. My products are intended for your students who think they're adults, but aren't quite there! They're loaded with examples and easy-to-understand language.
In this 13-page resource, you'll find the following activities, templates, prompts, examples and tasks that will keep them busy for days!
"Une maison hantée thématique" - An activity that will get your students brainstorming a theme for their haunted house and a final reflexive activity on making their choice.
"Donnez des frissons!" - An activity intended to have students stick to their "theme" and give details about the different rooms or areas within their haunted house. This activity should bring to life their design and concept.
"Le plan d'étage" - A guided example of a building plan including a "légende" with typically used symbols in engineering to construct their one- (or multiple-) storey haunted house on paper.
Also included is a large-format example to display for your students who need the extra visual supports.
Also included is a blank sheet for students to draw their haunted house's building plan.
"Mesures de ma maison hantée" - An activity to push your students' mathematical brains. These activities have step-by-step examples on changing the scale of their "paper" haunted houses to a realistic measurement, as well as calculating the perimeter and area of each of the areas within the house! Formulas are given and explained if you haven't quite got here, yet! This step will include multiplying decimal numbers.
"Des paragraphes terrifiants!" - This writing activity will have your students thinking about audience and the purpose of writing. Miniature graphic organizers are provided for your students to create descriptive, persuasive and narrative paragraphs as well as a poster project to "sell" their haunted house!
"Boutique Bouh!" - A series of math activities to boost your students' abilities to estimate and add decimal numbers including:
Boutique Bouh!'s store prices to be used in 2 other activities:
Story problems/written problems.
Building a mathematically specific treat bag!
"La liste de courses" - An activity that will have your students sticking to a budget when choosing the items they'll need to create the haunted house of their dreams! This activity includes a catalogue of items and prices at a local hardware store, and your students will have to calculate based on quantity, add and multiply decimal numbers, and finalize their total bill which must not surpass 1000$.
"Potions des monstres" - An activity on ordering decimal numbers from smallest to greatest.
If you're looking for basic Halloween themed worksheets, I've got those here.
If you're looking for a more research-based approach to the traditions and culture surrounding this Holiday, I've also got those here.

French School Lunch Menu Activities - 5 French and English Versions
Here are five no prep printable activities to use along with my free French school lunch menu series. You get five versatile worksheets that you can use with any of the lunch menus I've provided. Since there are so many menus available (and many more to come), having five different worksheets to use will keep your menu activities from becoming boring. All of the menus are in French only, but each worksheet has a French only and an English only version so that you can use them with any level whether you teach core French or in French immersion.
You can actually save money and precious planning time by purchasing the bundle I've put together which includes these 5 worksheets and all existing and future lunch menus. As I add new menus to the bundle you'll receive TeachShare notifications. I recommend printing the menu you want to use on one side of a sheet of paper and the set of questions you want to use on the other. Talk about a time saver and fun cultural addition to your food unit!
Versions 1 - 4 have ten questions each while version 5 has six questions. The questions on these worksheets will have your students learning a lot about cultural differences concerning menu items as well as the amount of time French students get for lunch, why there's no menu for Wednesday, etc.
Your students will find it interesting to see that French kids are offered une entrée, un plat principal, une garniture, un produit laitier, et un dessert every day.
It would be fun to look up images of some of these menu items to show students what they look like and if they eat anything similar at their schools or homes.
These activities and menus are all included in my French Food & Drink bundle.
