This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic French online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

• Translate their American dollars into Euros

• Browse through clothing categories

• Convert to European sizes

• Add items to their virtual shopping cart

• Stay within a given budget

• Take notes on new French vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

• Complete a "Liste de Cadeaux" to document their purchases

• Prepare a brief oral presentation in French to share with the class.

This project not only reinforces essential language skills such as vocabulary acquisition and currency conversion but also promotes empathy, cultural awareness, and community engagement. Woody Allen's blockbuster movie, Midnight in Paris, a love-letter to the city of Paris! My students really love watching this movie! Even if the movie is in English, there are lots of follow up activities you can do in French with your students. This is an exercise to accompany a report by a Figaro journalist, given in French (of course!). There is a link to the YouTube video, and a series of questions to be answered while watching & listening. There are ten multiple choice questions, and five more open-ended questions. This French cultural activity packet will help your students to understand the structure and practical life in the French school system. Different activities will let your students explore the life of a French high school student and compare it to their own experience.

Each activity has links they can use to find the information they need to complete the activity. The links are kept in a Google document that you can share with your students, but each page also has clickable links as well. You can share my links, or if you find particular links you would like them to use, you can give them those instead.

Make learning about Napoleon Bonaparte interesting with this no-prep digital escape game.  The game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks.  Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game.  Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work!  Students can play individually or in teams. 

Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit.  They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event.  This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.  

This Son of Napoleon digital escape game includes:

• Access to a website where your students can play the game
• Complete teacher's guide to playing the game
• Answer key so you can help students if they get stuck!

Your students will enjoy learning without even realizing that they are learning!  The challenging game format will get them excited about finding the code to unlock each lock - and the format of the clues for each lock will have them paying close attention - there's no way to solve the puzzles  without being 100% focused!

Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students.  You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district.  As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones.  With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.
