This Life Skills lesson is tailored for older special education students with special needs who are preparing for the workforce. It covers four main job types—Full-Time, Part-Time, Seasonal, and Per Diem—and explores the pros and cons of each, such as stability, flexibility, and benefits. Through practical examples and reflective questions, students will think about their own occupation preferences. This occupations lesson provides essential vocational training to help students make informed choices as they step into employment.

The resource includes 42 slides designed to help students understand the differences between Full-Time, Part-Time, Per Diem, and Seasonal work. It features 28 multiple-choice prompts and 20 fill-in-the-blank exercises that reinforce key concepts. Additionally, 16 example jobs are provided, asking students to categorize each job type. This engaging format ensures students can apply what they’ve learned and think critically about various employment options.

Digital Student Portfolio Project for Google Sites

This digital student portfolio project for Google Sites is the perfect way to help your students showcase their work in a professional, organized, and user-friendly way. With this product, you can quickly create portfolios that highlight student work, achievements, and more. Plus, the digital portfolio can be easily shared with parents and administrators for viewing.

This project can range anywhere from 6th grade to 12th grade. Depending on the age, it takes them about 2-3 days to a week from my personal experience with my students.

The Go To Work Series: Toy Store Filling Orders focuses on reading an Toy Store Order and determining if the correct items are in the shopping bag. This 30 question, self-grading activity is great for virtual learning or in-person learning. You will be able to share the presentation with your students for individual practice or as whole group. There are 2 levels. The first level is by picture cue and the second is by word. BONUS: There is an Interactive OFFLINE version included! Which group can create the best possible classroom, using a given budget and the size constraints of the existing room? Redesign the Classroom Project lets middle schoolers work in a small group to be the architect and interior designer as they measure the existing classroom, determine what new items to purchase, and then arrange their resources into the best possible learning environment.

This project reinforces measurement, math and accuracy skills as students use their imagination and creativity. After taking the measurements, each group brainstorms what they will purchase with their budget and creates a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (or Google Sheets) to show how they will spend their money. Next, they draw their floorplan to scale (on graph paper, using Web 2.0 tools (www.floorplanner.com or www.homestyler.com ) or Sketchup (a free download available at: http://www.sketchup.com/download) and then arrange the furnishings of the room to the best advantage. Next, students combine their work into a Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) presentation to explain and showcase their choices. Finally, students reflect on their learning, both about the project and about the success of their team. Note: This lesson is intended for beginning Excel users and was created using Microsoft Excel 2016. It is easily adaptable for different versions and an earlier version template is included.

This career unit gives students an introduction to the agriculture, food and natural resources career cluster and what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class.

The included PowerPoint presentation can be used by the teacher for whole class instruction, or provided to the students electronically (or as a printout) for them to review individually. Students use close reading skills with a short informational passage to learn about the career field and answer questions to use critical thinking skills and demonstrate their understanding. Two different puzzles are included to learn different jobs in the career and to reinforce vocabulary skills. A technology based research project is included to allow students to use critical thinking and creativity to further explore the career field. Additionally, a group project that can be completed without student computer access (by the teacher printing out the linked information) or providing access to a computer for each group to research is provided to simulate the career and allow students to utilize critical thinking skills and teamwork. Finally, a short reflection questionnaire gives students the opportunity to reflect and analyze their learning as they determine if this career field is of interest to them.

The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in this resource.

Job / Work Skills are an important part of our Middle School / High School special education / Autism student’s learning. Differentiate your vocational lessons with this Multi-Level Mail Sorting Bundle! Learn to sort mail just like Postal Workers! Teaching students vocational skills is a critical part of a special education / transition to work program. This unit helps students practice job, pre-vocational, and life skills by reading the last name on an envelope and sorting the mail into the correct mailbox.

There are 3 Levels. Level 1 has 6 mail boxes with same color coding. Level 2 has 9 mailboxes with different color coding, and Level 3 has 12 mailboxes with NO color coding. Each level is progressively more difficulty and the cues / prompts are faded. There are 12 choices (mailboxes). The student will read the "mail" and determine the last name of the recipient. They will then choose the correct mailbox to "deliver" the mail based on the last name of the recipient and the mailbox.

These skills will assist your students in becoming more independent in their daily / work life. Each level has 30 self-grading Google Slides activity cards, a Title Page, Ways To Use Page, and Congratulations page. This project based learning activity has students explore a college of their choice, research information about majors, classes, what life at college will be like and what it will cost and compile that data into Microsoft Word. Using that information, students create a poster to showcase their college of choice in a poster using either Microsoft Word or Google Docs that is suitable to print and display.
