Exploring Careers: Transportation, Distribution & Logistics | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
This career unit gives students an introduction to the transportation, distribution and logistics career cluster and what a career in this field would be like. This is perfect for a career, technology, CTE or business class.
The included PowerPoint presentation can be used by the teacher for whole class instruction, or provided to the students electronically (or as a printout) for them to review individually. Students use close reading skills with a short informational passage to learn about the career field and answer questions to use critical thinking skills and demonstrate their understanding. Two different puzzles are included to learn different jobs in the career and to reinforce vocabulary skills. An individual project to research information about a subtopic regarding the history and development of transportation using Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) offers students an opportunity for a better understanding of the evolution of this career. A group project is provided to simulate the career of an aerospace engineer as students design a plane with their team, allowing students to utilize critical thinking skills and teamwork. Finally, a short reflection questionnaire gives students the opportunity to reflect and analyze their learning as they determine if this career field is of interest to them.
The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with high school students. The teacher can choose to use some or all of the provided lesson options included in this resource.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

History of Film | Research and Presentation | Introduction to Film Activity
By Reece's Tech Shop by Scott Reece
I use this as an introduction activity for my middle school A/V Broadcasting class. I present a really quick overview of film and then they pick a topic with a partner. We take 2-3 days to research and build our presentations and then we take 2-3 days to present our findings. It's a quick introduction to the different periods of film, plus it allows me to see/hear all of my students before we start making videos.
I've included my rubric, which can be easily added into your LMS platform.
Fashion Design Final Project Choices
By Mandy LaCour
This project is great for your fashion design students in your entry level class. I usually give my students 10 class days to complete whatever choice they would like to work on from the list. Feel free to give your students whatever timeline fits your lesson plan. I like giving the students choices in case there are students who would like to sketch instead of sewing. No matter what project they choose they are still required to type a paper that discusses the elements and principles of design. Each project has a different set of elements and principles of design that are required for the paper since sometimes it is easier to include certain ones in sewing projects versus sketches.
Prior Knowledge needed:
This project assumes that your class has covered the elements and principles of design but if you have not then feel free to omit that part of the project.
This download includes a rubric as well.
