By Stephanie O.
Help your students memorize the polyatomic ions using this handy reference sheet, instead of overwhelming them with a laundry list of ions in no particular order. (Check out the video preview for a demo!)
These charts map out the exact tactics I use with my tutoring students if they've been overwhelmed or stumped by their chemistry teacher's instructions.
What's included:

+ color-coding mnemonics to aid students in making connections between the ions' names and constituent elements
+ memorization tips that encourage study skills like chunking, elaborative interrogation, and active recall
+ BONUS 3rd page: straightforward explanation of all of the patterns (choose whether to include this page for your students as additional scaffolding, or to post it later as an "answer key," or to exclude it entirely)
