Pumpkin Seed Counting Mats | A Pumpkin Investigation Activity
By Jennifer Connett
How many seeds are inside my pumpkin? This pumpkin seed math activity contains 2 mat formats that are ideal for counting the seeds in a small pumpkin. One mat formats has circles for students to place their seeds in and the other format has lines where students will place ten seeds. Both sets of mats can accommodate up to 1000 seeds.
These mats are designed to help reinforce learning with place value and skip counting by 10s and 100s. Have students make predictions about how may seeds are in their pumpkin and use the mats to test their hypothesis.
Mats Included:
The mats with circles guides students to easily place 10 seeds in each section. Students can easily count the number of seeds by placing one seed inside each circle. They will then skip count by 10 to see how many seeds are on their mat.
These mats make a great addition to a pumpkin investigation activity. Students can make an hypothesis about the number of seeds in their pumpkin, guess the number of seeds from seeing the seeds being removed from the pumpkin, then they can use the mats to count the actual number of seeds.

U.D.L. & Conferencing-Kid's Mental Health. Fall/Autumn.
By Art Shack by JB
Need an awesome UDL / Conferencing Activity? I have just the thing for you! These creative U.D.L. & Conferencing slides were designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this activity I reviewed what U.D.L. is and how it is used in my Art Room-and how it could be used differently in classrooms. I also reviewed how I conference with students: as a class, in a small group, and in a one-on-one situation. I used my pinch pot clay sculpture unit to showcase U.D.L. & Conferencing in my Art Room. I had students use the U.D.L. Checklist Worksheet to focus on Engagement, Representation, and Expression. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
