MINDFULNESS Small Group Counseling Curriculum - 7 Sessions - ELEMENTARY

"Mindfully Me" is a comprehensive and engaging 7-week small group counseling curriculum designed for elementary school students and is thoughtfully aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards.
This curriculum focuses on introducing mindfulness techniques and empowering students to enhance their social and emotional well-being. It offers a safe and supportive environment for students to explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, and acquire practical mindfulness skills. This curriculum is full of interactive, hands-on and engaging activities to help reinforce learning.
"Mindfully Me" is designed to empower elementary school students with the skills and mindset to navigate challenges with resilience and self-awareness. It encourages the development of lifelong skills for emotional regulation, effective communication, and overall well-being. This program aligns seamlessly with ASCA standards, providing a holistic approach to student development.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
- Foster emotional regulation, self-awareness, and well-being.
- Cultivate mindfulness skills to navigate the challenges of adolescence.

Below are the specific details for each individual session which can be used in isolation or as a comprehensive curriculum.
- Session 1 - Welcome and Introduction to Mindfulness: This session serves as an orientation where students are introduced to the "Mindfully Me" program. It emphasizes the importance of mindfulness in everyday life, explores the expectations for the group, and establishes a safe and supportive atmosphere.
- Session 2 - Mindful Moments: In this session, students delve into the concept of mindfulness and practice being fully present in the moment. They engage in mindfulness activities to understand the power of the "here and now."
- Session 3 - Exploring Feelings: This session guides students to explore their emotions. They learn to identify and understand their feelings and develop strategies for coping with difficult emotions constructively.
- Session 4 - Mindful Senses: Students explore their senses and how their senses can be used as anchors for mindfulness. They learn to focus on sensory experiences to stay present and engage in practical sensory activities.
- Session 5 - Mindful Breathing: Mindful breathing is introduced as a powerful tool for self-regulation. Students practice various mindful breathing techniques to manage stress and enhance emotional control.
- Session 6 - Gratitude: Gratitude is the focus of this session, encouraging students to cultivate a positive mindset. They explore the concept of gratitude and engage in activities to foster appreciation for the present moment.
- Session 7 - Termination and Review: The final session serves as an opportunity for students to review their mindfulness journey throughout the program. They reflect on their progress and discuss how they plan to incorporate mindfulness into their daily lives moving forward.

This product includes 2 social stories that focus on feeling guilty. One story talks about feeling guilty for doing something wrong and another talks about feeling guilted into doing something that someone doesn't want to do.
In this product, students will also learn the following: the meaning of feeling guilty, the meaning of guilt-tripped into doing something, how you may feel when you feel guilty, the signs of feeling guilty, and what you should do when you feel guilty.
The social stories include comprehension questions that relate with each feeling guilty social story. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters when they feel guilty or when they are guilted into doing something.

This product includes 4 social stories that focus on feeling jealous and envious. Each short story includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters who are experiencing a problem. When students are reading each story, they will review jealousy that they can use throughout their day to day routine. The vocabulary words jealousy and envy are reviewed and discussed, the questions: how do you feel when you are jealous and envious of someone are asked. Types of Lies Town Lesson on Honesty, Lying, Integrity & Truth Telling for Kids

This lesson on honesty and lying is ideal for your elementary school students. Of course, at times, our children tell lies on purpose. But, sometimes, children do not realize they are lying because they have not been taught the differences between the various types of lies. Teach all about the types of lying and why it can be harmful with this unique and engaging activity.
“Types of Lies Town” is an interactive activity used to introduce students to the six types of lies. This activity allows children a safe and structured way to learn about the negative consequences of lying and a chance to reflect on their own behaviors and habits.
Students will “take a tour” of the town and visit six different streets to learn the definitions, stories, and examples of the various types of lies.

This product includes 1 social story that focuses on spreading rumors. Vocabulary that is reviewed and discussed in depth include - spreading rumors, positive self-esteem, negative self-esteem, gossiping, reputation, and the expression - fight fire with fire.
Students will also learn about the following - how spreading rumors can impact self-esteem, how you will feel when you have positive self-esteem, how you will feel when you have negative self-esteem, how to build self-esteem, how one would feel if a rumor was spread about them or how one would feel if they spread a rumor and the person that spread a rumor found out, the negative impacts of spreading rumors, what to do if someone spreads a rumor about you, and 1 social story that focuses on a student spreading a rumor about another student supposedly cheating off his test.
The social story includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. Managing Anxiety Activities and Examples
