Sizeoftheproblemactivities, 4th, School Counseling, No Prep, Task Cards

By Elena Tenisi

Do you have kiddos who struggle with appropriate reactions to situations? This activity can help!

Packed with 20 scenario cards, students will have the opportunity to read through them and decide just how big the problem really is.

Included are three fuzzy monsters; big, medium, and small. Cut them out and laminate them. Have students read each scenario and sort them depending on the size of the problem. (You should have three different sorting piles). If it's a big problem, have them place the scenario card on the big monster. If it’s a medium problem, have them place the scenario card on the medium monster. If it’s a small problem, have them place the scenario card on the small monster.

Works best if all pieces, (monsters and scenario cards) are laminated.

Great for 1:1 or small group sessions.

Enjoy!

By Mrs Bell The Crafty Counselor

Sometimes kids need a superhero-themed self-esteem activity to boost their confidence. Give students the chance to remember what makes them so super with this superhero-themed self-esteem booster!

Remind children of their unique qualities by having them answer this question:  What’s your superpower?

Are they kind? Do they make others feel good about themselves? Are they good friends? Are they athletic? What makes them super?

Use as a whole class activity, classroom guidance lesson, small group activity, or during individual sessions.

Included in Download:

  • Eight Superhero Themed Activity Sheets

Help students uncover what’s super about them as they write their superpowers all over their worksheets. Print black and white copies to create self-esteem activity coloring sheets for students. This is an ideal activity for students who need a confidence boost.

Recognizing Other People's Emotions (Session #5)

By Mrs Bell The Crafty Counselor

The Empathy Building Game Help students recognize and understand how other people would feel in a given situation. Have students “walk a mile” in other people’s shoes while answering one important question; How do you think they would feel? Two sets of 52 game cards are included. Black and white cards should be used with advanced groups who have a solid grasp on understanding emotions. Students pick a card, read the situation, and describe the emotions the person would feel. The colored cards can be used as a guide for students who still need help understanding the basic concepts. The colors on the chameleons (on the cards) match the emotions the situations would evoke. They colored cards are based on how most people would feel if faced with these situations. I hope your students find this educational and exciting! This is now part of a bundle! Families Counseling Activities - Parent and Family Changes Self-care

By All Therapy Resources

This is a creative activity to help foster connection and create a sense of unity and “togetherness” within the family. Learning healthy self-care habits can start at an early age and the good news? It’s never too late to start learning about the importance of taking care of yourself. From making yourself a hot chocolate, running a bath or even dancing to your favourite singer. These can all be positive and healthy self-care habits.

The important thing to remember is what is self-care for you might NOT be self-care for someone else. Self-care is about meeting your needs. As a family however, it is important to consider the needs and preferences of the whole family as well so you can create a menu of options that as a family you can do “together”.

In this activity you will be creating your “family togetherness tea”. A cup full of self-care habits and strategies that as a family create a stronger bond of love and unity.

All family members are encouraged to participate and provide valuable contribution by expressing their self-care needs. Collectively the family creates some go-to self-care strategies to help strengthen the family.

Although not all self-care strategies will be everyone's “cup of tea” (so to speak) being more aware of everyone's needs, likes and preferences can provide a lot of insights and allow for opportunities for connection and communication, family cohesion and togetherness.
