Working With Emotions (Session #3)

The Sliders Game! Students match the 28 slider scenarios with the correct emotion the scenarios would evoke. they slide the slider portion until the emotion showing matches the emotions the situation would evoke. There is more than one possible answer to scenarios. As long as student reasoning and logic is sound, accept all answers. To assemble: Print Single Sided. Laminate. Cut Apart Half Page Cards. Cut Apart Bookmark Sized Sliders. Leave the white tips at the top and bottom of sliders intact. Only cut vertically. To create the sliders: 1) Cut slits along the two black lines on the situation cards. 2) Place the slider strip behind the card. 3) Push the slider strip through the front of the first slit (from the back), and out through the second slit (from the front). 4) Students slide the slider portion to match the emotion that the situation would evoke. (Refer to the pictures in the product preview) In the end, your students will know more about what situations evoke certain emotions. I hope you and your students love this activity! Feeling Messages In a Bottle - Emotional Awareness Self Care - SPANISH VERSION

Many people think of being happy and excited as good emotions and anger and sadness as being bad ones. Because of this, many people spend years trying to repress, block or avoid these emotions. But it is important to know that all emotions are normal. Three are no good or bad feelings or emotions. They are messages.
This activity encourages emotional awareness by encouraging individuals to reflect and gain insight into their various emotional states.
This resource encourages students to imagine that they are walking along the beach while they are a particular emotional state and they come across a “message in a bottle” which is just perfect for what they need and want while they are in that emotional state.

The Empathy Building Game Help students recognize and understand how other people would feel in a given situation. Have students “walk a mile” in other people’s shoes while answering one important question; How do you think they would feel? Two sets of 52 game cards are included. Black and white cards should be used with advanced groups who have a solid grasp on understanding emotions. Students pick a card, read the situation, and describe the emotions the person would feel. The colored cards can be used as a guide for students who still need help understanding the basic concepts. The colors on the chameleons (on the cards) match the emotions the situations would evoke. Meet the Counselor Activity to Explain Roles and Responsibilities to Students

It's important that students know their school counselor's roles and responsibilities. Students can best utilize the services school counselors provide when they are explicitly taught the services school counselors have to offer. Help your students meet the counselor with this quick and engaging activity.
Explain the main roles and responsibilities of the school counselor by using the included cootie catcher and roll the dice activity.
Teach students that counselors are here to:
- Help students solve problems.
- Listen to students' problems and concerns.
- Help students make and keep friends.
- Help students deal with life changes.
- Remind students how special they are.
- Help students make and keep friends.
- Teach students about career options.
This activity allows students to become familiar with our roles and responsibilities as school counselors. Students roll the dice and explain how what they landed on is important. For example, if the student lands on career, they should explain why it is important to explore career options with the counselor.

This lesson has been specifically developed to support students with learning or intellectual difficulties to understand key aspects relating to:
PERSONAL BODY SAFETY
When you were little your parents and carers took care of you. Now that you are getting older, it can be helpful to learn about some ways that can keep you safe, such as what to do and how to ask for help. We will learn about how you can keep safe, what you can do when you feel that you are unsafe, your body’s early warning signs and also who is in your network of people that you can talk to when you do feel unsafe.
This lesson has been created to include key information in a easy to read manner with visuals to support information retention. Depending on the age, developmental level and key learning needs, Teachers, Parents, School Counsellors and other Allied Health Professionals should use their insight and judgement to determine whether the information contained in this lesson is suitable and appropriate for each individual student.
This lesson is built into a scaffold learning system with a total of 6 lessons. You can choose to use this lesson in isolation, however should you with to further build the knowledge around relationships and sexuality, feel free to check out the remainder of the lessons. The lessons include:
