Glimmers Bulletin Board, Activities & powerpoint to Help kids find their joy!
By Until the Pieces Fit
Glimmers, which are the opposite of triggers are those moments of pure joy and serenity that light up their lives. I use the materials to share and practice glimmers with my students & after just 3 days back the kids have already started using the term "glimmer" when something brings them joy!
The word Glimmers originates from Deb Dana, LCSW, psychotherapist, and author who coined the term. Glimmers which is the opposite of a trigger are those fleeting instances that bring us warmth and peace, offering a profound positive impact on our mental health. With gratitude & written permission from Deb Dana, I'm thrilled to share these activities with fellow educators!
Materials Included:
PowerPoint: Utilize the included PowerPoint slide show to introduce the concept of Glimmers to your students. With 40 slides featuring real-life pictures, students can begin to recognize things that bring them Glimmers. It also helps create connection and shared interests, with their classmates.
Worksheets:
8 student pages
identify your glimmers (things that make me happy, included, helpful etc)
I feel a glimmer when....
track your glimmers
Things I see, taste and hear that bring me glimmers
Bulletin Board: Colorful lettering (multiple styles) to make a bulletin board for your classroom or your school. Cards are included for students (& staff) to share the things that bring them glimmers
2 pages of "me and my Glimmer". Take a picture of your students happy with their glimmers & attach to the page. A great reminder of the things that bring us joy.
8x11 Posters: Sprinkle your class or school with five 8x11 posters. Whether it's in your classroom, hallway, or on your door, these posters serve as tangible reminders to celebrate life's Glimmers.

FRENCH Back to School ATTENTION GRABBERS - French Classroom Decor Posters
By La trousse de Madame
ATTENTION GRABBERS
In the French classroom, it can be difficult to find new and engaging ways to grab the attention of our students without falling back on the old standards of 'les mains sur la tete...'
I keep a list of new and fun ways of getting students attention in my notes on my phone and try them out with my students. I love it when they get to the point that they spontaneously answer back.
Here are the four posters I have up in my classroom. My students love them!
How to use this product:
1. Copy the resource with a colour printer
2. Or, print in Poster mode on your printer and get larger sized posters for your classroom
3. Laminate for year to year use
*****You will notice a line on the item between the rectangle and triangle shapes of colour. Please note, when I printed and many of my colleagues have printed at home and at school, all printers 'read' the colours as being one!
Who can use this resource:
This set of Attention Grabbers is great for students from JK to Grade 8 in the French Immersion or Core French setting. Educators are able to teach these quick and easy sayings at any Grade level.

Back to School Common Science Misconceptions
By Science and STEAM Team
This common science misconceptions activity is a great way to start your science year!
The idea is that science always searches for the truth. Just because most people believe something, or for our whole lives we thought something was true doesn’t necessarily mean it is.
Students will learn to question everything.
There is a poster that explains what a misconception is, six common misconceptions and the fact, and a tips and suggestions sheet for teachers. There is also a follow-up worksheet for students to write a misconception and the fact surrounding that misconception.
