This is a discussion activity to go along with the Lorax movie. There are 6 prompts for students to discuss. Either in a whole group or split into groups, the students will discuss the prompts. This is a great activity to go along with after watching, good practice with supporting their claims and opinions with facts, and good practice for their discussion skills!

Disccusion Prompts

There are 6 different different prompts for the students to discuss. Cut out each prompt so the groups can have the prompt they need to focus on. I would recommend either splitting them into groups and passing the prompts out, or taping the prompts to the wall and have the groups move to each spot in the room for the prompt.

The prompts will have the students discussing characters, real world applications, greed, and theme!

Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once your coupons are all sorted then you can place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. there are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons. They can also work on figuring out percentages to show how much money is saved during each shopping trip and totals for each month. Directions:

• Print and laminate multiple sets of the image cards.
• Divide the class into multiple groups.
• Group members take turns drawing a card from a pile.
• The person who drew a card must not show their team the image or use words to describe it. Ie if it is a rainbow you can only use shapes, lines, and location to describe the drawing and cannot say things like, "it forms after the rain."
• The group member describes and gives directions on how to draw the image.

This product reviews the importance of visiting the dentist, when children start losing their teeth and why they lose teeth (to make room for permanent teeth), how many teeth children lose and how many permanent teeth there are, what happens when children lose teeth (the tooth fairy may visit), how to prevent cavities, how to care for your teeth - how many times a day you should brush your teeth, how long you should brush your teeth for, and how often you should floss your teeth for each day, pictures of dental tools that are used in a dental office along with their labels, and anatomy of a tooth.

Students will answer short answer, multiple choice, and fill in the blanks using a key comprehension questions are included in this product that relate with the information that is shared throughout the product. Students will also share their experiences with caring for their teeth, losing a tooth, and visiting the dentist. Students will also have the opportunity to label the anatomy of a tooth and draw diagrams and experiences.
