Coupon Binder -Teach your students or children the power of saving money

Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping. Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once the coupons are all sorted, you can then place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. There are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons. They can also work on figuring out percentages to show how much money is saved during each shopping trip and totals for each month. Students edit each box and type in an activity or experience they had over the summer. For example, "Went to the beach," "Read a book," or "Had a barbecue."
Students continue until all text boxes are filled with different activities or experiences they had over the summer.
Last, students find classmates who share the same activities or experiences listed on their Bingo card and write their names on the line.
How to Share a Forced Copy
- Open your Google Slides presentation.
- In the address bar, locate the URL. It should look something like this: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/your-presentation-id/edit.
- Replace the word "edit" at the end of the URL with "copy" (e.g., https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/your-presentation-id/copy).
- Share this new link with students. When they click on it, they will be prompted to make a copy of the presentation.

In this lesson, students learn about Red Ribbon Week as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. Two versions of the WebQuest are included to let teachers print the questions or to provide them digitally as an interactive page in an editable Microsoft PowerPoint file. Additionally, a word search puzzle (with answer key) is included to use for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.

The topic is enlightening for kids who have felt stress responses without understanding what is really happening in their brains and bodies (pretty much all kids). Eleven is a fantastic story to use when learning about stress response because readers are often frustrated by the way the main character responds to the stressor she faces. This is a great way to integrate SEL into an English class.
