This opinion writing is a perfect activity for your holiday writing. This is great around Christmas time, but can also be used for any holiday tradition. The students will write about their favorite tradition and why it is their favorite. This gives students practice with stating their opinion and giving 3 reasons why they believe that way. There are 2 graphic organizers included allowing for differentiation for students to write a shorter or longer paper. This activity is a fun way for students to share a little about their holidays and what they enjoy.

This is a great practice of finding the student's voice. They get a writing prompt that explains that they are in charge of finding a new mascot for Easter. They get to brainstorm some ideas for a new Easter Bunny. Then they can use their graphic organizer to format their opinions and why their mascot would be a good choice.
