These Dental Health Activities are a Dental Health Month (February) educational package designed for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. A range of activities that can be used as individual exercises or as part of a lesson plan depending on what works best for you and your students are included in the package. The most important thing to remember is that in order to empower children to take charge of their oral health, they need to understand that their mouth is a window to the health of the rest of their body, therefore it is important they keep it healthy by:

• Brushing their teeth for two minutes, twice a day.
• Selecting less-sugary foods and beverages over sugar-filled ones.
• Two annual visits to the dentist.

Students can answer these questions as the book is read or after they have finished reading the book or listening to the book. While reading this book and answering these questions, students learn about why you go to the doctor when you are healthy and unhealthy different tools the doctor may use when during your visit, different symptoms you may have when you are not feeling well, importance of washing your hands and when you should wash your hands, and how to stay healthy so you don't become sick. Students can answer these short answer questions, yes/no questions, multiple choice questions, and vocabulary/picture labeling questions as the book is read to them, as they read the book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and examples of the words used in sentences are presented. Students have the opportunity to use those words in sentences as well.
