This is an easy printable activity for Thanksgiving or fall that students can write their own Haiku. There are instructions on how many syllables go on each line. Then I have two different examples of Haikus. Students will be able to create their own Haikus about Autumn, Thanksgiving, or November.

Who can use this resource:

French Immersion teachers in the Kindergarten to Grade Three classroom and those teaching beginner French students. Can be used at the Grade 4-6 level with Core French students learning to segment and blend complex sounds.

What grade level:

I personally use these activities with 1st and 2nd Grade students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to them year after year with their students. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

This is a science non-fiction text about rainbows written with upper elementary students in mind. It is paired with the tie-dyed milk experiment (which in this case you can call it the "make a rainbow experiment)." Writing a Free Verse Poem can be a fun and interesting project for your students. Students will learn that this play focuses more on imagery instead of rhyming. Students will learn what imagery is and how it utilized the senses. How can I incorporate poetry into my daily/weekly lessons? You may have asked yourself this question. Solid Read Alouds is the answer! Solid Read Alouds connect poetry to your classroom read aloud. Solid Read Alouds not only connect poetry but enhance your curriculum with monthly themes and national observance days. Is your favorite snack popcorn? You will enjoy connecting to the Popcorn Read Aloud and sharing the fun with your students. The Popcorn Read Aloud is designed for a daily, one week time period. However, the unit can easily be stretched into two weeks or incorporated into a writing workshop. The read aloud will include: poetry, partner activity, and nonfiction selection. The unit also includes: comprehension work, anchor chart ideas and printables, grammar game, penmanship work and . This product is designed to enhance your curriculum, incorporate poetry, and infuse common core state standards into your teaching. The Solid Read Aloud product can easily be completed in approximately a daily 15-minute mini lesson.

1.      Same Picture Four Settings- Students are given a partial character drawing and asked to draw that character in four different settings. There are two ways to complete this assignment. I have provided a list of possible settings to draw out (students would pick these out of a hat/bowl, OR they could choose four from the list to use).

2.      Describe the Setting-Five different pictures are given. You can give it to students at random or give it to all five students. Their instructions are to (using complete sentences) describe the setting.

3.      Setting for any book- Use this chart to help students fill out their knowledge of the setting of any book.
