French Decodable activities that align with the Science of Reading in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound.

Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Students use whiteboard markers to sound out each sound in the word, each syllable, or each word in the sentence. What a great way to build confidence! Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple sentence strips to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Sentences are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

How do I set up the activity?

Just print and play! Everything you need is included in your download. You don’t need locks (you can prepare one or even use my digital lock included in this kit if you wish to), envelopes, or special equipment. You can hang or hide the puzzles or just spread them out on the kitchen table.

Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

This is a pdf file for a 17 week workbook building math fact fluency for multiplication. Each week has 5 pages either focusing on one math fact for that week or a week reviewing all of the facts previously practiced. The first four days focus on practicing a mix of 50 easy and hard facts. The 5th day is the assessment day. Students should get timed for 1 minute to see how many of the 30 facts present they are able to answer during the allotted time. Each page is numbered to help students easily find the page for the day, save time and transition to the task seamlessly. In addition to this, each week has a positive quote or affirmation from the student to help build confidence while they practice skills that may be difficult for them based on their own skill level. An answer key is included and is also numbered with the page numbers that it correlates to in the student workbook.

This workbook has drastically increased the math fact fluency in my own students using it on a consistent basis this year. This workbook begins with a focus on 0 & 1 facts, increasing by one fact every other week and continually reviewing/building on the facts that have already been practiced to help students continue to feel successful with this skill.
