This is a perfect Valentine's Day activity. All you need is a box of conversation hearts for each student. They will graph the sayings and the colors of their hearts in their conversation heart box. Students will practice collecting data, correctly graphing it on their bar graph, and then answering questions about their graph. There is a fun twist where students will get with a partner and answer their questions using both their graphs. This is a great printable for Valentine's Day fun! Do your students need a Question of The Day for February? Using a Question of The Day can lead to tremendous growth academically and socially. The Question of The Day Fun can be utilized during your Morning Meeting time along with your greeting and other activities. 

There are Valentine’s Day questions, Black History Month questions, and kindness questions. All of the questions are on a Google Slide and can be used every morning during your Morning Meeting routine. All you have to do is bring up the Google Slide each morning and have the slide ready to go for that day. There are 20 EDITABLE and DIVERSE slides just for the month of February! 

Students will create connections and develop deep discussions with the questions.  Therefore, the skills they are learning during Morning Meeting will lead to connections within their reading texts. Students who practice those skills outside of reading will most likely utilize those same skills while reading. 

Additionally, the February Question of The Day will create deep relationships between you and your students! If you have the other Morning Meeting Slides than you understand how powerful these questions can be!

This resource is a non-fiction science text about heart health. There are a variety of activities that are perfect for Valentine's Day week.

The text is an independent read for upper elementary grades but would make a great read-aloud for the kindergarten and first grade. There is a YouTube video suggested. It is paired with a science activity and an experiment. There are follow-up graphic organizers on several different levels for independent work after the reading. Make your ESL classroom look different from a regular education room during valentines by considering these 42 multilingual animals' labels!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mystery picture

♣ Print out 1 mystery picture per student.

♣ Students cut up the answer tiles and then place them on the correct question tiles to match the words with the definitions.

♣ They can glue the question tiles onto the answer tiles and color the picture too.

Valentine's Day Sudoku

♣ Print out 1 sudoku per student.

♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.

♣ Each word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.

♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.
