Cartoon Last Character Standing

Students will be given a list of Cartoon Characters to see how their characters are eliminated over a 10 day period during the Last Character Standing Games. They will be given a pair of dice that will be used to determine if the character moves on to the next day or if they are eliminated. Fraction strips are used as a math manipulative and a more hands-on approach to teaching your students to visually see the value of each proper fraction to a whole.

This product is a digital puzzle that requires students to complete 25 identifying fraction problems. The link to the digital puzzle is on a clickable PDF that you would download once purchased. Students will put the answers in the answer box (numerator/denominator or whole number fraction). This activity is no prep and is self checking. If the student puts the correct answer in, the answer box will turn green and a piece of the digital puzzle will appear in the green box to the right. If the student puts in the wrong answer, the answer box will turn red and no puzzle piece will appear. Students will know that they have completed the activity correctly when all answer boxes are green and all 25 puzzle pieces are there, forming a picture of a pug dog eating pizza. Fractions represent the parts of a whole or collection of objects. A fraction has two parts. The number on the top of the line is called the numerator. It tells how many equal parts of the whole or collection are taken.  The number below the line is called the denominator.  It shows the total number of equal parts the whole is divided into or the total number of the same objects in a collection. When the whole is divided into equal parts, the number of parts we take makes up a fraction. If a cake is divided into eight equal pieces and one piece of the cake is placed on a plate, then each plate is said to have 1/8 of the cake.
