This inclusive reading comprehension activity is thoughtfully created to cater to the unique needs of special education students while keeping the memory of 9/11 alive.
This 2 page text is supported with symbolated visuals to provide extra support and enhance understanding.
Your students will have the opportunity to practice their comprehension skills through 8 WH- questions that align with the text.
Each WH- question comes with 3 visual answer choices, ensuring that learners have a variety of options to choose from.

In this packet, students can answer comprehension questions pertaining to the text as they read the book or after they read the text. They can complete these questions individually, in a small group, or with support. There are several pages of comprehension questions in this packet that differ from the questions asked in the teacher edition. The questions from the text are adapted in this packet to meet each of your student's needs. In the beginning of the packet, the question, "what is a historical fiction text?" is answered. The selection vocabulary words are also included with this packet. The meaning of the vocabulary word and a picture that shows what each word is is also included. Students will be required to come up with a sentence using each selection word.

Adapted Reading & Writing Assessment Pre-Primer - Third Grade

This product can be used with students as an informal/formal adapted assessment. Students will be required to identify the pre-primer, primer, 1st grade,2nd grade, and/or 3rd grade Dolch sight words. If students begin at the pre-primer level and are able to identify a specific amount of each section of sight words, they are going to be ranked as independent, instructional, or frustration when identifying those sight words. Students are then provided with a sentence or brief comprehension passage for each Dolch sight word list. The questions and short passages have been adapted and shortened compared to other reading assessments so baseline data can be collected, especially with those students are struggling. This will help gauge where students need the most support in terms of identifying sight words, reading simple sentences/passages, and answering comprehension questions that relate with what is read.

My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words there, their, and they're are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if there, their, and they're belong in each sentence, circle the correct use of the word there, their, and they're in sentences, write sentences using there, their, and they're when looking at different picture scenarios, and will write there, their, or they're to complete each sentence. Like many of you, the country of Ukraine and its people have been on my mind and heart daily. Saddened by what is taking place and feeling helpless I wished there was more I could do to help. Undoubtedly, you are also thinking about your students during time and looking for ways to address this current event with them in an age appropriate way.
This scavenger hunt is a fun way for students to learn fun and interesting facts about Ukraine while bringing attention to the country & culture. Students can work together to complete the scavenger hunt bringing unity to the classroom. Activity pages at the end give students the opportunity to reflect and even express their emotions.
This resource does not directly address the current climate or war in Ukraine. This resource was designed to teach about the beauty of Ukraine and its rich culture. I have found many students have been flooded with information and images of the war from different media source. This gives students insight to what Ukraine was like before the war.
