2. Adjective Sorting Game
2 ways to play:
* a sit-down activity - print out, cut up
Children draw an adjective from a receptacle and place it on the right plate.
* a kinetic activity (great for lively classes) -print out two sets, cut up, laminate
- divide students into two teams
- place the plates at one end of the classroom and the receptacles with adjectives at the opposite end of the classroom
- children pick an adjective and run and place it on the correct plate and run back
- they high-five the next team member in line and only then can the next player pick an adjective and run to the plates
- the competition ends when all the adjectives have been placed
- the team which scores the most points (= placed the most adjectives right) wins

5. Board Game
You need counters and dices. To be played in pairs or small groups. If you teach a larger group, print out a few of them.
3 ways to play:
* pupils say the comparative and superlative of the adjective
* pupils form a comparative / superlative and add a suitable noun
* pupils form a sentence
If they make a mistake or don't know, they lose their turn and have to return back to the square they previously stood on.
6. Tic Tac Toe
To be played in pairs. In order to write their Xs and Os, pupils have to write the
comparative and superlative on the line. If they don't know, they have to choose a different square. If they make a mistake, they lose their turn.

As our Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL students are completing written assignments, little words/parts of speech that are commonly confused when writing with words such was and were. My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words was and were are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if was or were belong in each sentence and will write the word on each space provided.

This resource features an exciting and meaningful ELA Escape Room meant to supplement your child's language arts curriculum while more time is spent at home with distance learning.
This meticulously-crafted resource contains all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length ELA Escape Room for your child at home. Planning an escape room may seem like quite the daunting task, but this product provides everything from the basics and set-up instructions to signs and answer keys so that yours runs smoothly from start to finish. The activity involves movement, energy and creative thinking. Your kid(s) will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they applying in the playing of this game!
How does it work?
The ghosts of William Shakespeare, Maya Angelou, Jane Austen, Walt Whitman, and Langston Hughes have risen from the grave to lock your child inside your home! They are upset because they believe that teenagers these days spend too much time making TikToks and not enough time practicing their grammar, poetry, and other ELA skills. In order to appease them, your child must solve 5 different Language Arts skills-based puzzles which lead them to 6 locations through the home and ultimately, to a final prize.
- Figuratively Speaking: In the first task, your child must identify the figurative language device used in popular 2020 songs. Shaded boxes in the correct answers form the first code which leads to the next task.
- Lit Match: In the second task, your child must match literary terms with their definitions by drawing a line connecting them. Letters not intersected by the lines form their second code leading to the next task..
- Where The Heart Is: In the third task, your child must identify the part of speech used in inspirational quotes about home. Shaded letters within the correct answers form the third code which leads to the next task.
- Ah-Mazing: In the fourth task, your child must solve a word maze. Letters collected along the way form the fourth code leading to the next task.
- What's The Word?: In the final task, your child must complete the multiple choice quiz. Once he/she puts the correct words together, he/she must travel to that location in the home to escape and claim the prize.

ESL Emergency Vocabulary Words Workbook for Newcomers

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary words for the different emergency items presented. Students will initially write each vocabulary word in their native language and after learning the English word, students will complete different emergency items vocabulary review where they will be required to fill in the English and their native language word for different emergency vocabulary words. I tend to use that section as a quiz. I will read the word aloud and the students will then write the English word and the word in their native language. Pictures are included for each vocabulary word to help students make connections with each emergency word. Students can do this independently or with help. Students will be required to answer a few comprehension questions that relate with the importance of safety skills, what to do if they are in an emergency, who to call in an emergency, and complete an emergency vocabulary review.

How does it work?
"Let's eat Grandpa!" Your students' challenge is to find the missing comma from this sentence to save Grandpa from becoming dinner. In order to do this, they must complete 5 grammar-based tasks, discover a hidden message, and find clues along the way.
- Comma Drama: In the first task, students must identify comma rules used in 6 quotes about grammar. When matched correctly on a mat puzzle, shaded boxes reveal the first code.
- Idiomadness: In the second task, students must complete a crossword puzzle for which each clue is an education idiom. Shaded boxes within the puzzle reveal the code.
- Devil Cat: In the third task, students must closely read a passage about the Devil Cat that allegedly roams the basement of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. and find the incorrect homophones within the article. Shaded letters within the answers form the third code.
- R U Kidding Me?: In the fourth task, students read 8 funny (well, in a Dad joke kind of way) jokes about grammar. Students must determine the part of speech of the underlined word in each joke. Shaded boxes within the answers reveal the code.
- Jig Saw Quote: In the final task, students must assemble a jig saw puzzle that forms a quote about grammar. Once the puzzle is assembled and students bring the quote to you, they obtain the missing comma to save Grandpa!

How does it work?
Your room has been transformed into a haunted house of horrors and your students can only escape by solving 5 challenging grammar skills-based tasks about Halloween!
- Here, Kitty Kitty: In the first task, students will read a passage about black cats and correct incorrectly used homophones.
- Witch Sentence?: In the second task, students must identify each type of scary sentences (indicative, imperative, subjunctive, etc.) in a matching game.
- In Cold Blood: In the third task, students must identify incorrectly used past tense verbs in a passage about vampires then unscramble letters to solve the code.
- Zombie Escape: In the fourth task, students must solve a zombie word maze.
- Sentence Skeleton: In the fifth task, students must identify the parts of speech of words within a Halloween quote in a matching game. Once complete, they must input all codes into a sentence to escape the haunted house!
