In this fun and engaging project, students will explore every aspect of an empire in history by conducting research, creating a visual representation, and presenting their findings to the class! This project can be modified to specific needs and can be adapted for use with any time period that you’re studying in class. Examples of empires/civilizations may include:

• River Valley Civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Indus Valley, China)
• Classical Empires (Persia, Greece, Mauryan, Gupta, Qin, Han, Rome)
• Gunpowder Empires (Ottoman, Safavid, Mughal)
• Maritime Empires (Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, French, British)
• Age of Imperialism (Belgium, Germany, France, etc.)

This lesson will have students explore & debate the five major compromises that were made at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787. The delegates were charged with the task of amending the Articles of Confederation. However, they quickly decided to replace the Articles and write a new constitution. Because the delegates came from all parts of the country, they differed on a number of key issues. In order to keep the convention going and ensure ratification of the Constitution, the delegates had to compromise a number of times. As a result, the final document is sometimes described as a "bundle" of compromises.

This can be used as an introductory before or wrap-up lesson following a World Governments unit. The political landscape in the United States is deeply polarized, with Republicans and Democrats often having starkly different positions on many issues. 

Here are ten hot contentious topics that hav been prominent in the political discourse. These topics are highly dynamic, and the positions associated with each party can evolve over time, influenced by current events, leadership changes, and public opinion. Always consult the most recent sources for the latest information on these and other political issues.

Each issue has further been divided into two short stories, or rather scenarios, one from the perspective of a democrat, and one from the perspective of a republican.

Finally, there are sets of questions that probe each scenario and dig deeper into the issues and perspectives.

This product is designed to teach students about the election process in the United States. The first several pages present information about the purpose of voting and explain important developments in the history of voting. The middle pages teach students about the Electoral College and the election of a U.S. President, senators, representatives, judges, and local officials. The remaining pages deal with campaigns and require students to create campaign materials and compose a speech in support of a candidate. Last Page presents a crossword puzzle which provides a comprehensive review of election

terms.

After students complete the activities in this product, you may wish to invite community leaders,such as judges, city council members, or election officials to speak to your class.
