Part of our series of "discussions ciblées". This set is focuses on the topic of Education. You will find a list of 35 vocabulary words related to the Education theme and 35 discussion questions. The questions are suitable for upper level and AP French or for middle and high school French immersion. This resource is especially useful for your chapter on "Education". As usual, the questions are thorough and thought provoking. I like to print the list of words on one side of a page and the questions on the other side so that students can easily refer to the new vocabulary during their conversations. Writing a story about a haunted house can be a fun and interesting project for your students especially around Halloween. This product provides students with the opportunity to use creativity while writing their story about a haunted house and share it with their peers! Students can also write their story with a peer which encourages students to communicate and work with one another.

This product includes information to share with your students about what a story is, why we write a story, who is your audience when writing a story, what is your purpose when writing a story, how will the story about a haunted house be published, and rules to follow when writing a story about a haunted house.

An example of a story about a haunted house is included in this product. After the example is read, students will be provided with a template that includes an area for 3 haunted house story ideas, and once they choose which story about a haunted house they will write about, they can add onto their story using the idea chart.

Following the example, templates are provided rough draft template, 1 template that allows for students to write down three story ideas that include what happened in the story, who are the characters, and how does the story end. One the 2nd template, students can write down three brief summaries about haunted house story ideas. On the 3rd template, students can write down two brief summaries about haunted house story ideas if the template that includes 3 story ideas is too overwhelming for students. Students will then have a rough draft template that can be filled in. This includes the title of their haunted house story, the characters, the setting, and the plot. Students can then use the rough draft template to write their rough draft. Once students have edited their rough draft, they can use the final draft template that is included or they can type it. A reminder checklist is provided after the rough draft and final draft to remind students to reread their work to check for any mistakes.

Vocabulary instruction is valuable as it builds the foundation for later reading skills, such as comprehension. A child needs to be taught vocabulary in many different ways.
