Spring Sequence Printable Yoga Cards + Lesson Plans

By Lara Hocheiser

As the winter days wind down and the spring weather approaches, many come out of hibernation. The spring season is often a time for children to play outside, participate in outdoor sports, and just enjoy the feeling of being outside in the fresh air. However, during this warm and bright season, it can also be a time of anxiety for children. Children in the upper elementary and middle school grades typically take standardized testing, which is mandated by the state. The months of April and May can actually be quite daunting for some students, which is why this spring yoga sequence is such a great addition to children’s routine. In teaching students yoga poses and breathing techniques, not only can they learn something new but they can also learn techniques that can help ease their stress and anxiety, especially when it may come to test taking.

In our Educator’s edition, we provide 3 easy-to-follow curriculums for teachers, parents, and anyone else that works with children. Each curriculum is for a specific age group: young kids, kids and tweens.

The Spring Sequence + Curriculum is a 27 page PDF download which you can view on your phone, tablet, computer or print out onto paper. We recommend cutting out each card and taping/gluing on a 4x6 index card or card stock. For added durability, laminate each card.

Includes:

  • Printable yoga deck to learn 5 yoga poses
  • Full-page spring sequence yoga poster
  • Three lesson plans to educate yogis (split into 3 age-groups)
  • Three spring crafts with printables to get creativity flowing
  • Printable journal to reflect on your practice

Perfect for practicing anywhere! Use this deck at home, school, park, or when traveling!

Made for educators, parents, and anyone doing yoga with children!
Includes three specially designed yoga lesson plans that can be taught to kids ages 2-7, 7-11, and 11+.

Spring Break ELA Escape Room

By Language Arts Excellence

If you are looking for a rigorous yet engaging skills-based lesson that will really put a SPRING in your step, look no further than this Spring-Themed ESCAPE ROOM for ELA!

There is no wonder why escape rooms are so popular; they are highly engaging and encourage people to work together and think creatively in order to solve different puzzles... all while trying to beat the clock! This meticulously-crafted resource features all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length Spring-Themed Language Arts Escape Room. Planning an escape room may seem like quite the daunting task, but this product provides everything from the basics and set-up instructions to signs and answer keys so that yours runs smoothly from start to finish. The activity involves movement, energy, creative thinking and most of all, collaboration. All tasks are Language Arts skills-based so that with this engaging lesson, learning is not sacrificed. Your students will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they are applying in the playing of this game!

How does it work?

Your students are trapped in your classroom and cannot leave for spring break until they solve 5 Language Arts skills-based tasks about spring!

  • Spring to Life: In the first task, students must fill in the blanks with the spring-inspired idioms. Once cards are assembled correctly, designated letters within each card reveal the first code.
  • Figurative as a Flower: In the second task, students identify the figurative language devices used in excerpts from beautiful spring poems (like After the Winter by Claude McKay). Shaded letters in the correct answers form the second code.
  • Edna's Spring: In the third task, students must perform a close reading of Spring by Edna St. Vincent Millay, the perfect poem to study as the days get warmer. Letters of the multiple choice question answers following the poem reveal their third code.
  • Spring Fever: In the fourth task, students will read 8 quotes about spring and identify the part of speech of underlined words within each quote. When parts of speech cards are matched correctly, shaded boxes reveal their fourth code.
  • Jig Saw Quote: In the final task, students must solve a jig saw puzzle that reveals a provocative quote about spring. Once they figure out the quote and bring their student answer sheets to you, they may escape to spring break!
