Sometimes we all carry around worries. They might be about school, home, friendships or even changes in our life. This activity encourages children to think about their worries and put them on their own worry tree. They can write down all of their worries and put them on the tree so that they don’t need to carry these worries around with them anymore. When the worries have been placed on the tree, it opens up discussion around strategies and ways that they can cope with that worry.\x3Cp>This resource includes:\x3Cp>- What is a Worry Tree\x3Cp>- My Worries (What do I want to talk about) worksheet\x3Cp>- When I feel Worried Brainstorm\x3Cp>- Coping Skills Poster\x3Cp>- Rainbow Breathing\x3Cp>- Breathing & Concentration Exercise\x3Cp>- Mindful Senses\x3Cp>- Create your own Worry Tree Template (tree, leaves, butterflies, birds)\x3Cp>- Extra Notes Page\x3Cp>WHAT TO DO\x3Cp>If you have a worry all you have to do is to write your worry on a leaf. Be Kind, Be Safe, and Do Your Job are the only school rules you need! I have taught for 33 years, in three different districts. I have seen many school-wide rules instituted, but these are the only ones that stuck! Our district has used these for years! These rules are simple and easy to remember. All other rules can fit under these main rules. This resource includes a poster for each of the three rules and suggested books to read to your class for each rule to help facilitate discussion. A student booklet for each student to complete, take home, and share with their families is also included.

Impact of Your Words - Middle + High School SEL Activity and Interactive Lesson
By Jeni Donath
Creating a positive environment for students is a top priority, but it can be difficult when individuals lack an awareness of the impact of their words towards others, especially when it does not affect them in the same way. This activity brings awareness and a better understanding, while also increasing empathy and care toward others. I also like to remind students that we cannot control what other people chose to say and do, though we can take time to educate and create awareness, especially when something they are saying or doing is impacting us. This lesson can be customized to fit whatever statements would be most beneficial in recognizing within your school.
