This social story is designed to help children understand the importance of following rules at school. Using simple language and engaging visuals, the story explains what school rules are, why they are in place, and how following them helps everyone have a safe and productive learning environment.

Ideal for parents, teachers, and caregivers, this story reinforces the value of respect and cooperation, helping children understand and embrace the rules that make their school a better place for everyone.

What is included?

As well as a 12 page social story there is also a shortened adapted book version of the story with movable pictures to attach to each page.

Why do you need this?

The point of a social story is to use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories can be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event but social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation.

How and when might you use this?

· To implement a social story, you should first ensure that you have eliminated distractions; that it is just you and the child sitting together focussed on the story.

· Initially you should read the story through twice with the child but it is then vital to revisit it regularly.

· Try to find a way to incorporate the story into the child's daily schedule.

· If the story is relating to a particular inappropriate behavior, it is useful to read the story when this behavior occurs, you do not however want the story to be seen as any kind of punishment.

· Regularly praise your child and keep it a positive experience.

These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them.

This bundle includes an English and Spanish version of the Hanukkah Candle Book. These are perfect for your bilingual or dual-language classrooms. Ensure your students understand the significance of Hanukkah and relate Jewish traditions to their lives. This resource helps children connect with the miracles of Hanukkah by creating their own through meaningful actions.

The activity features nine candles, each representing a core value. Children light a candle each time they perform an action related to that value, embodying the spirit of the holiday. This engaging exercise teaches fundamental values that aid in overcoming challenges.

**Instructions: **Cut along the dotted lines for each candle. Have students color a candle whenever they practice a related value and staple the candle book beside each candle flame. There is also an empty template provided, allowing students to choose any value they wish to practice and either draw or describe it in writing.

6 File Folder Games

File folder games allow students opportunities to learn to through play. Communication and appropriate interactions are important skills they will need throughout life.

This set provides 6 different activities, however they each follow the same general rules, expectations, and idea. I use this with my kiddos that need practice turn taking, losing (students may lose a desired game piece), cooperation, following directions, matching and so much more. The games are easy in nature, however highly addictive for the competitive kids. This allows for opportunities with students in differing abilities.

The themes for the games are:

Fill the Wagon

Make a cake

Buggy Day

Laundry

Moon Walk

Ice Cream

Rules (some differences in games - this example is the Fill the wagon rules).

Contents & Prep:

• Print/Laminate 1 mat per person, use a expo marker to personalize wagons.  Each player will collect their items in their wagon.
• Print and laminate 4 dogs, 4 flowers, 4 ice cream, 4 bubbles, 1 book, 1 leaf pile - place them in the middle of the game board. 
• Print the game board and glue/laminate to a file folder
• Print and prepare dice (or use your own dice)

*For easy storage of game pieces attach an envelope to the back of the file folder prior to lamination.  Make a small slice in the lamination to release the top of the envelope.  Attach velcro to close.  

Object:  Be the first to collect all the items except the leaf pile in your wagon.   If you have the books or the leaf pile and someone else lands on it you have to give it to the other player.  

Choose your player:  Once you have chosen your player, place them on the board any spot will do!

Directions:  

1. Roll the dice and move your player.
2. Collect the pieces as you go and place them in your wagon.   You may only get one of each item!  
3. The first person to collect 1 dog, 1 flower, 1 ice cream, 1 bubble and the books wins!

A male teenage student struggles with presenting/talking in front of an audience. He shows great discomfort in presenting in front of others due to his perceived lack of skills and confidence. His classmate encourages him to join a debate team to improve his speaking and presentation skills. (Positive Peer Pressure)
