Making Responsible Decisions w/ Values SEL Lesson + Worksheet
By Erin Cusumano
This lesson provides a framework (including a step-by-step break down) for decision making. A pivotal part of the framework is applying values to help you decide on the best choice for you. Values are explored, promoting self-awareness, and incorporated into decision making skills. The lesson also differentiates between consequential and inconsequential decisions to encourage thinking about what choices require more thought and energy.
As middle and high schoolers are headed toward bigger, more consequential decisions this lesson enables them to identify their values and emphasizes the role knowing your values plays in making choices that align with the life students want and the people students want to be.
The slides and worksheet are simple to increase comprehension and suit middle through high school students.
This lesson includes presentation notes (discussion points and questions slide-by-slide included) (2 pages), slides to present (8 slides) , and a worksheet (1 page).

Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. The Anticipation Guides can help structure meaningful conversations that reviews what students already know and engages them in critical thinking about the topic they will be exploring. The statements in the Anticipation Guides can spark some great discussions among students!! This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Organizational Skills.
You can use an Anticipation Guide:
✅ Before | After introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge.
✅ Before | After watching a film clip to gauge a reaction.

✅ Before | After discussing a topic.
*******************************
ANTICIPATION GUIDES
There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:
▶️ Variation #1:
⭐ Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.
⭐ Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.
▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.
******************************
SELF-ASSESSMENT
This resource includes a single Organizational Skills Self-Assessment. Students will use the organizational skills - related statements to reflect on their current organizational habits and identify areas for growth. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.” They will use this self-assessment as a tool to identify their strengths and areas for improvement in organizational skills, so they can develop more effective strategies for managing their time and responsibilities.
This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for initiating conversations about how students can enhance their organizational habits, prioritize their tasks, and balance their academic and personal responsibilities more effectively. It encourages self-awareness and goal-setting, helping students to actively engage in improving their time management and overall productivity.

Social Boundaries Social Stories
By Sign with me TOD
This product includes 2 social stories that focus on boundaries. Students will learn the two different meanings for boundaries, the importance of setting boundaries, examples of boundaries that need to be set, and why.
In the two social stories that are included in this product that relate with boundaries, students will learn why boundaries should be set, what happens when things don't go as planned and being honest and how these situations are important for establishing boundaries. Students will learn ways to express themselves, understand why boundaries are set up, and establish healthy boundaries and why they are important to help students be successful in life.
The social stories include comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. This product shares with students the importance of establishing boundaries, being honest, and knowing that things will not always go your way or work out the way you want them to.

Preparing for Social Situations SEL Presentation + Activity
By Erin Cusumano
This lesson teaches students about the value of thinking ahead before entering new/challenging social situations, walks through how to do so, and uses a worksheet for practice.
The aim of the lesson is to give students the tools to think ahead- working goal setting and self-management skills. The main takeaways from this lesson should be the value of learning about social norms, goal setting, planning ahead, and how to do these things. It is also stressed that while social norms may feel ambiguous they are most often specific and can be learned.
The lesson includes a presentation (10 slides), a worksheet (2 pages), and a presentation guide (3 pages).
The slides and worksheet are simple to increase comprehension and suit middle through high school students.
