Glimmers, which are the opposite of triggers are those moments of pure joy and serenity that light up their lives. I use the materials to share and practice glimmers with my students & after just 3 days back the kids have already started using the term "glimmer" when something brings them joy!

The word Glimmers originates from Deb Dana, LCSW, psychotherapist, and author who coined the term. Glimmers which is the opposite of a trigger are those fleeting instances that bring us warmth and peace, offering a profound positive impact on our mental health. This product includes 2 social stories that focuses on stranger danger. Vocabulary that is reviewed and discussed in depth include – strangers, dangerous, safety, cautious, and friendly.

Students will learn about stranger danger rules and why they are important to follow and how they will keep people safe, what strangers may say to someone to convince them to do something, and when to say, "No" to strangers.

Two social stories that focuses on stranger danger are included in this product. The social stories includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. This product shares with students the benefits of following stranger danger rules and why, what to do when presented with situations such as walking home from school or going to the park and interacting with a stranger. The characters will show how they handle each situation presented and why.

At the end of the product, you will find 4 role-playing cards that relate with stranger danger. Students can role-play each situation and talk about how they would feel if they were in the situation.

This social emotional learning lesson uses Terry Bisson's short story They're Made Out of Meat. During this SEL lesson, students complete a pre-reading activity, read the short story (not included), answer questions related to the text, and contemplate the ways that they can demonstrate social awareness. In particular, this lesson focuses on the idea of excluding others. Students are asked to think about the reasons they exclude others and what they might be missing by excluding people. There is also an opportunity for whole class discussion regarding the idea of social awareness.

This lesson also focuses on short paragraph writing. The presentation contains an outline and example of a 6 sentence response. Students will first collect evidence to support a response about the identity of the short story's speakers. Then, they will practice writing the 6 sentence paragraph supporting their claim about the identity of the speakers.

3. For good choices, students explain why the decision was positive. For poor choices, students propose alternative ways to handle the situation, sparking meaningful discussions around social skills and empathy.

• Ethan's Helpful Gesture: Ethan offers to help a classmate who is having a hard time with the zipper on their winter coat.

• Christopher's Rule-Breaking Proposal: The school rule is that snowball fights are not allowed. Christopher tries to convince his friends to have one anyway, saying that it will be fun.

• Micah's Neighborly Help: Micah sees his older neighbor outside shoveling snow. He bundles up and goes outside to ask if the man would like some help.
