2nd Grade Biology Lesson

⭐Cover the NGSS about life cycles while reading about TICKS! Students will also learn a little bit about Lyme Disease and how to protect themselves from this growing problem. This booklet comes in two sizes. This is a great group read and discussion for first and second graders. It is an independent read for third and fourth grades. Lesson Plan Overview: The Fascinating Life Cycle of Butterflies

Prepare for a thrilling 90-minute exploration centered on butterflies! This lesson is ideal for young learners who are interested in the growth and transformation of butterflies. Together, we will discover the four captivating phases of a butterfly’s existence: beginning as small eggs, developing into voracious caterpillars (larvae), changing within a chrysalis (pupa), and ultimately appearing as stunning adult butterflies.

WHAT IS A DIORAMA?

A diorama is a 3D scene designed to depict a particular topic or concept. These miniature scenes are assembled using various materials layered together, often within a shoebox or similar container, to visually represent different aspects of the chosen subject.

Students can construct a diorama by cutting, coloring, painting, and gluing different components inside the box. This product includes notes for students learning about world biomes

Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this product include: biome, climate, world biomes, tundra, permafrost, taiga, temperate forests, tropical rainforests, grasslands, desert, savanna, prairies, deforestation, and forage.

These notes can also be used as adapted notes for students who need more support. This packet includes notes on each of the 7 world biomes, maps showing where each of the biomes are located, animals that live on each biome, and facts/information about each biome, short answer comprehension questions are provided after information about each biome is presented. Towards the end of the product, students can complete the world biomes research report. Students can research an animal that lives on each biome and provide interesting facts that they learned as well. Students can then draw a picture of each biome in the a drawing section. Students can also fill in the blanks using a key to review vocabulary words.
